The next floor down was worse.

When the sand spit them out, the smell of sex and blood immediately assaulted their senses. Males leaned against walls just outside of doorless rooms where the sounds of screaming and painful moans escaped. They let other males in one by one in exchange for their hoard of stones.

Lance and Winston could feel Bailey was deeper still in this inverted castle. The purpose of this floor had his mind playing horrible images of his mate taking the place of those females here and something in him snapped. Furious with how close she was and with how long it was taking to get to her, Lance decided to make a scene.

He walked over to the nearest door jockey, picked up the burley blond by his neck and squeezed. Not having expected the attack, the male died in seconds with a broken spine. Those who weren't inside rooms witnessed the cold murder and did what they were trained to do, attack anyone who wasn't playing by the rules.

Twelve beastmen of varying strength and size charged at Lance and his group. None were above three stripes and the four males made quick work of them. When the sounds of fighting faded, so too did the sounds within the rooms. Males in all manner of undress came out to investigate only to be met with the bloody scene of a massacre with a green snake, a white tiger, a black and red fox and a black wolf in the center.

"Did you have to do that?" Winston growled at the snake. He might be strong enough to handle any onslaught from the beasts on this floor, but he didn't want the whole city coming down upon their heads.

Lance smirked at the tiger, "If we make enough noise, cat, the King will come to us instead of us going to him. It's not as though any of the beasts on this floor deserve mercy. They chose to be here and now they face the consequences of that choice. So stop mewling and start killing."

Though Tristan was exhausted, he couldn't disagree with the snake's logic. Neither could Winston. Bart had been determined to kill them all from the beginning.

Their murder spree began in earnest. They went into the nearest room and ripped apart any male that was in there. The female, thinking she was being rescued, grabbed a pelt to cover herself and followed the group as they continued on, room to room. Each female they came across did the same as the first until over ten females huddled together and trailed behind in their savior's bloody wake.

When they felt like they were close to having cleared the entire floor, they found Rosa.

Laying naked on a few ragged furs, Rosa stared unresponsively at the ceiling. They could hear her breathing and her heartbeat, confirming she was still alive, but she must have removed her consciousness from the things happening to her in order to protect her mind.

Bart rushed to her side and scooped her up in his arms. He sobbed and apologizing for not having been strong enough to keep her safe. She did not respond but she must have sensed she was safe as she closed her sightless eyes and fell asleep.

And then finally, just as Lance had predicted, the King came bringing with him a small army.

Mitchell had gone to his father when he'd been called and St. Zachary told him how Bailey's mates had made it into the city and were causing havoc.

The giant scorpion that rarely moved more than his deep purple eyes spoke to his only son in a condescending manner, "Go clean up your mess boy. It won't be good for you if those mates of hers kill all our workers. You would need to finish them off anyway if you want to have any chance at keeping the fox for yourself."

His slow raspy voice gave chills to Mitchell every time he heard it. Whether is was the overwhelming strength of his father or his absolute coldness, he wasn't sure. Either way, Mitchell was used to following his orders. He gathered his best men and made his way up to the second level of the underground. Using his capability over sand, he had the scorpions spread out and surround the group, smoothly walking through what had once before been solid walls of sandstone.

Mitchell, confident in his numbers walked towards the group. "While I appreciate you coming to me instead of making me hunt you down, your methods really are bad for business." He looked down at the tens of corpses that littered the floor, grimacing and then at the small group of females cowering in fear behind the four beasts. He addressed those females, "I'm afraid your grand plan of escape will fail. You see, if I don't have you to incentivize the males that work for me, then nothing will ever get done around here. You should head back to your rooms while I'm still being nice."

A few of his scorpion soldiers snickered.

Lance looked at the Scorpion King unimpressed. The so called king was large and well-proportioned but the power coming off of him was similar only to the fox in their group. "Are you done talking yet? I thought I'd give you time to tell me where Bailey is, but you just keep licking your own paws with that tongue of yours. I don't have time for your stupidity. Where. Is. Bailey?" Then Lance let the scorpion feel the full force of his beast pressure.

All two hundred scorpions on that level fell to the ground on their stomachs. It was like the gravity of the earth had increased tenfold. Every claw felt like lead and not one could lift their pincers even an inch off the cold floor. The females screamed and cried as they too were forced to the ground. Winston, Tristan, Bart and Mitchell fell hard to their knees. The walls and the floors rumbled loudly as though an earthquake was about to tear the place down around their ears and they would all be buried beneath the sand.

"S-STOP!" Cried Mitchell. The pressure was all too familiar to him and he knew the snake could very well do just that. Cold sweat dripped down his back. His black eyes were wide as Bailey's words rose to the surface of his mind. 'If it came to a fight, my mates wouldn't lose.'

He knew of the tetra-marked Tiger King but he never expected her other mate to be a penta-marked snake nearly as powerful as his father. If those two beasts were to fight, they were all doomed.
