Chapter Four - Masquerade Ball

The two celestial beings glided gracefully into the grand entrance hall of the manor. The hall was a masterpiece of architectural splendor, adorned with intricate carvings and precious gems that sparkled like the stars in the midnight sky. Quartzite columns soared towards the heavens, supporting a vaulted ceiling adorned with demon motifs that seemed to account for every misdeed that had happened on Earth.

As Crowley and Alexandria traversed the hall, their footsteps echoed softly against the polished black floors. Upon the walls were hung tapestries dating back hundreds of years depicting scenes throughout the history of mankind. If it hadn't been for their need to gather information quickly, Alexandria could have spent the whole evening admiring the detail that went into the tapestry. Of course, she didn't care about the images the tapestries showcased of all the unfortunate events that have fallen on Earth. But she could admire the handy work of the person who created it, each piece of thread they had meticulously woven by hand to create these giant pieces of tapestry. It was imposing, to say the least.

As Alexandria's eyes traveled along the different pieces of tapestry, she saw one that depicted someone she knew pretty well. "Does your ego know no bounds?" Alexandria whispered into Crowley's ear, causing Crowley to chuckle and pull her closer to them.

The two beings stepped closer to the tapestry. Woven with intricate detail and vibrant colors, the tapestry depicted a scene unlike any they had encountered before.

At its center stood a striking figure, a red-headed demon whose fiery golden snake-like gaze seemed to pierce through the fabric itself. The demon's features were rendered with meticulous care, capturing the intensity of their presence and the raw power that emanated from them. The demon stood against a backdrop of swirling flames, his form outlined against the backdrop of an infernal landscape. Around him danced shadows and whispers, hinting at the secrets and temptations that lay hidden within the depths of the underworld.
Despite the darkness that surrounded them, there was a certain allure to the demon's presence, a magnetism that drew the eye and held it captive. His expression was one of defiance and determination, a testament to his unyielding spirit and unwavering resolve.

"You like what you see, don't you?" Said Crowley with a cocky grin on his face.

"I must admit it. It does capture some of your finest details. Still, I wouldn't let that get to your head, dearest," Alexandria said, emphasizing the dearest.

Crowley raised a mischievous eyebrow and used their forefinger to grasp Alexandria's chin slightly. Crowley turned her so she was looking into their face. They were about a mere few inches away from each other's faces.

"You haven't even seen the best details yet, my dear little angel," Whispered Crowley with a hint of husk in his voice, looking into Alexandria's eyes the whole time.

The servant who had let them in coughed behind them. This caused Alexandria and Crowley to both turn towards him. Alexandria was blushing a fierce scarlet.

"Ahh, sorry about that. I just couldn't help but admire my beautiful fiancé. Sometimes, it's hard for me to keep my hands off her," said Crowley.

They lifted Alexandria's hand towards their mouth, placing a burning kiss on her inner wrist, and then placed it back into the crook of his arm.

"No need to apologize, Mr. Crowley. Shall I take you both into the ballroom?" Asked the servant in a monotone voice.

"Yes, that would be delightful, thank you," said Alexandria.

At the heart of the hall stood a gigantic staircase. Ascending the staircase, the two celestial beings followed the servant. Crowley and Alexandria made their way up the stairs, they were greeted by the soft glow of candlelight emanating from the ornate sconces that lined the walls, casting dark shadows along the walls. Alexandria stepped closer to Crowley's side, seeking their comfort. Crowley could tell that Alexandria was trying to muster her courage, not knowing what the two celestials were about to walk into.
