Chapter Twenty-three - Embrace it. Rule it.

*Flashback to Crowley putting Alexandria to sleep.*

As Alexandria's eyes drooped, Crowley leaned in closer, brushing a gentle kiss against her forehead. "Sleep well, my little angel," he whispered, his voice filled with tenderness. "I'll be here if you need anything."

With one final glance at Alexandria, Crowley quietly exited the room, leaving her to rest peacefully. Alexandria was left alone in the room to sleep off the effects of the serum that was coursing through her blood. The rising sun was still peaking through the curtains, but it did not bother Alexandria. She seemed to be quite at ease, and she snuggled deeper into her bed and allowed her body to fall further into a deep sleep.

As Alexandria began to wake up from her slumber, it felt like hours had gone by. She no longer felt like she had a fever or that her body was sore. Alexandria slowly blinked her eyes open; she was greeted by a glowing, flickering orange light filtering through the curtains. She turned away from the light and curled back into a ball in the bed, pulling the sheets tightly around herself and slowly closing her eyes to see if she could fall back asleep.

The memories of Crowley's gentle touch and soothing words lingered in her mind, comforting her as she gradually became more alert. Stretching her limbs, she realized with relief that the discomfort she had felt before slipping into sleep had dissipated, replaced by a sense of rejuvenation. Opening her eyes, she noticed that the bedding she was lying on was completely different from her original bedding. No longer was she greeted by her white sheets with blue flowers and her blue quilt. Instead, she was met with black silk sheets and a rich maroon comforter.

She furrowed her eyebrows in concern and ran her hands against the bedding. It was smooth and cold to the touch. All of the bedding felt freezing as she pulled it closer to her body. But for some reason, it didn't leave her feeling cold; in fact, it felt great against her skin. She gently pushed herself up into a sitting position. Alexandria glanced around the room, taking in her surroundings. Her eyes grew big as she looked around the room. This was not her bedroom! But the more she looked around, the more she realized this bedroom shared similarities with her room. The room had similar items that were within her room, except they had taken on different colors and styles.

Alexandria took in the unfamiliar surroundings. Her mind raced with questions. How had she ended up in this room with its strange but somehow familiar furnishings? Was she still in her own bedroom, or had she been moved somewhere else while she slept? The silk sheets beneath her felt luxurious against her skin, a stark contrast to the cozy familiarity of her own bedding.

Despite the initial confusion, Alexandria couldn't shake the feeling of comfort that enveloped her in this unfamiliar space. It was as if the room itself was welcoming her, drawing her in with its unique blend of similarities and differences. With each passing moment, she grew more curious than anxious, her instinctive wariness tempered by a sense of intrigue.

Cautiously, Alexandria swung her legs over the edge of the bed and threw off the sheets and comforter off her body. Alexandria looked down at herself. She was greeted by a completely different set of night clothes than what she went to bed in. She wore a red nightie that revealed way more skin than she felt comfortable showing off.

Alexandria stood up, taking tentative steps across the room. As she moved, she noticed more details that mirrored her own bedroom but with subtle variations—an intricately carved mirror hung on the wall (that was different from her original bedroom), but there was her carved wooden desk against the same wall. The desk appeared to no longer have the flowers carved into the wood but skulls, and it was made out of ebony wood. The items on the top of the desk appeared to be all the same. The first edition of books no longer held some of her favorite titles but others that leaned more towards horror. Her little reading area near the window was completely different as well. The chair and table looked way more luxurious and it was made out of ebony wood as well. The back and bottom cushion of the chair looked to be made out of expensive red velvet fabric.
