Emily's POV

I waited staring out the window for Austin to come get me.

I haven't told my mom that Austin was taking me to the appointment because I knew she would be angry.

And I wasn't in the mood for arguing. But I had to tell her.

Taylor was supposed to come too but I asked her not to. She was glad that Austin was coming along. I'd rather have him come than her.

Besides, I probably would have got in the way between her and Justin.

My mom's car pulled up the driveway. She's home early. Probably to take me to the doctor's.

"Honey, I'm here." She yells walking in. "You ready to go?" She asked putting her purse down.

I take a deep breath and sit on the couch.

"What's wrong sweetie?"

"Um. Austin is coming to pick me up." I say preparing for what was about to come.

"Why is he coming?"

"He's taking me to the appointment." I say calmly.

"No he's not." Mom says sternly.

"Yes he is."

Mom looks at me appalled and takes a seat on the recliner couch.

"Since when does he care about you?" she asks.

"Since he told me that he wanted to help me and support the baby."

"Are you sure he feels this way about you? Or does he just feel sorry for you?" Mom says crossing her arms over her chest.

"I don't know. But I want to give him a chance." I quietly say looking at the floor.

She looks at me surprised but doesn't yell.

"I'm going to assume that you don't want me there with you."

"I'm sorry mom. I just want it to be us two." I say grabbing her hands.

"Okay, okay." She says taking a deep breath. "When will he be here?"

"I told him to come at four." I respond turning back to the window.

Austin's car pulls up the driveway. He gets out and makes his way to the door.

Mom sees him and pulls me into a hug.

"If that boy hurts you Emily, there will be hell to pay."

"I know mom. I'll tell you everything when I get back." I say getting out of her grip.

"I love you so much Emily."

"I love you too mom."

I walk out the door and stop Austin in his tracks.

He gives me a smile and shoves his hands in his pockets.

"You ready to go?" he asks bending his knees.

"Yes. Let's go."

Austin opens the passenger door for me and watches me climb in.

He runs to the other side and reverses the car out of the driveway.

"I'm nervous." I start to say. "And scared."

Austin grabs a hold of my hand.

"I am too. But we are going to get through this together."

I turn and look at him.

"I promise." He says looking back at me with gentle eyes.

Maybe he is becoming different person. Maybe he really does want to help me.

I hope I can trust what he says though.
