Chapter 8

"Austin! It's so good to see you!!!" I watched as he hugged a woman I'm assuming was his mom.

"You too, mom." he smiled and my assumption was correct.

"And who is this lovely little girl." she asked and walked over to me smiling.

"Hi, I'm Katie." I said and she hugged me as I weakly hugged her back.

"Nice to meet you, Katie." she smiled and pulled away making me think of my mom.

"You too, Mrs. Mahone." I managed to get out with a smile still somehow on my face.

"Please call me Michelle." she said and Austin cleared his throat. I looked over at him to see that he was waiting for us to be done.

"Since you two are done now, I'll just take Katie up to my room and we will watch a movie." Austin said as held his hand out signaling for me to grab it. I grabbed his hand confused and he led me up a flight of steps.

"Are we really going to your room?" I whispered and Austin nodded not bothering to look back at me. We got to his room and he opened the door letting me in and then he closed and locked it really fast.

"Sit on the bed." he ordered and I obeyed sitting on the bed as Austin walked into the connected bathroom and turned to look at me. "You can do anything that you want, just stay in this room." he said a little softer and I nodded as he closed the bathroom door and I heard a shower starting. 

I laid down onto the soft sheets of the bed and rested my head on the pillow. My eyes slowly started to close and I eventually fell into a deep sleep.

I don't know how I can sleep when I am so scared.

Austin's POV

I walked out of the bathroom in  search for my shirt. I found it and looked up to see Katie laying on my bed curled up in a ball on her side as her chest fell and rose with her steady breathing. She looked so happy as she slept and I swear there was a tiny smile on her face. I smiled to myself and slipped the shirt over my head as I walked over to Katie. I sat down on the bed next to Katie as she slept. I looked at her face and suddenly just wished that we could start over and maybe I would actually be friends with her. She shifted her position and turned to look at me. Her eyes opened a little and she smiled at me confused from sleep.

"Hi, Katie." I whispered.

"Hey..." she muttered and I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her forehead.

"I'm scared......" she mumbled into my chest.

"Don't worry," I assured her, "I'll keep you safe."

 Katie's POV

I woke up with a dim light coming in through the blinds. I felt a pair of strong arms wrapped around me. Soft snores were heard in my ear as somebody's warm breath was felt on the back of my neck. At another place and time I would have been fine with this. With him.

"I think she's up." I heard somebody whisper and I recognized the voice. Robert.

"Yeah, go look." I heard Zach, I think that's his name, say as I heard footsteps. Not trusting either of them I sunk into Austin closing my eyes feeling the warmth come off of him as I kept my eyes closed trying to contain my shaking.

"She's shaking." Robert said and I felt his warm hand press against my cheek. "She's cold. What do we do, Zach?" he said and I felt the bed creak as Robert must have sat down.
