Chapter 2. Introducing Gavin

The alarm's annoying voice buzzed across the room making Hazel's eyes snap open. She groaned and turned on her stomach and put her pillow on her face to stop the noise but it was of no use.

She heard keys rattle and the front door of her apartment open. She peeked at the intruder with one eye open and noticed that it was Scarlet with her red hair in a tight high ponytail. She was wearing her track suit and had a water bottle in her hand. Her forehead and face glistened with sweat and few of it trailed down. Unlike Hazel, Scarlet goes running every day to ensure that her body stays fit. Hazel was glad that she was blessed with a body where she could eat like a pig yet not get fat, because of her fast metabolism. She thanked her mom for that as it was her who forced Hazel to drink hot water thirty minutes after eating. Being a werewolf also helps as it increases the rate of food digestion. She had a to die for body- even without trying!

They did not live in the Pack House. Instead, they had their eyes on an abandoned cottage in the Pack and Hazel and Scarlet had already reserved it for themselves. When they grew old enough to take care for themselves, they renovated the cottage with the help of the Pack and turned it into their own small and cozy home. It was close to the Woods which was why Scarlet would go off running everyday.

Scarlet looked at her sleepy friend who had her legs sprawled all over the place and her tangled hair a mess. The voice of the alarm echoed in her ear and she rolled her eyes at the amount of laziness this woman contains.

"Wake up, sleepy head," Scarlet sang, removing the pillow from Hazel's face who hissed.

"Go away," Hazel's voice was muffled, like a choked whale and she waved her hand for a second.

"Today is the big day," Scarlet reminded her.

"It's in the evening," Hazel said.

"Gavin's coming over in a while," Scarlet said, rolling her eyes.

Hazel sat upright. Gavin was Scarlet's mate and fiancé. He had proposed to her four months ago. It was always Scarlet's dream to be proposed in a beach at midnight with the waves behind them so Gavin took her to a movie set and a beach scene appeared on the green screen. Scarlet was asked to wear a sundress and a fan blew the hair away from her face along with the dress. She laughed at his cheesiness and accepted his proposal. Hazel was there along with Scarlet's and Gavin's family and they all cheered making Scarlet blush a shade of pink.

Hazel was happy for Scarlet. He was a man of business and class plus, he owned a shipping company.

"Why?" Hazel asked her friend who was beaming. She knew that her friend was in love and always encouraged her to make pups but Scarlet refused, saying that she will after Hazel meets her mate, which is never going to happen, according to Hazel.

"Well, we need to have a manicure, pedicure, full body wax, makeup and get our hair done," Scarlet squealed.

Hazel was about to say something but the sound of the front door being open stopped her. Both the girls looked at the intruder and fear crept upon them.

"Honey, I'm home!" Gavin's voice boomed across the small apartment and he entered into the small bedroom. Scarlet immediately jumped on him, engulfing him in a bone crushing hug and sucked his face off making Hazel avert her eyes from the couple.

"Get a room you two!" She said.

Scarlet stopped then looked around, "We are in a room."

"Get another room, then," Hazel said back.
