"Hello."

"Hi."

"..."

"It feels like we haven't talked in ages."

"Three weeks."

"Yeah I'm sorry about that. Something came up."

"Something like what?"

"Just something I had to go out of town for."

"Oh. Makes sense. Sorry for leaving you all those voicemails."

"No it's ok. I didn't mind them. How's your mom?"

"She has a little difficulty getting around and taking showers but Ryan, dad, and I help her out. Besides that everything's good."

"Have you gotten back on that team you spoke about?"

"Actually yes. I play for the Newvale Warriors. After coach found out why I wasn't attending practices, he talked to me one on one and offered me a spot back on but until I proved it, I couldn't be quarter back."

"Huh.."

"What?"

"Never mind. So everything's getting back on track?"

"Yeah?"

"That's good. Great actually."

"Why do you sound so happy?"

"Cause."

"Cause why? Do you have a new boyfriend or something?"

"What? No. Almost all the boys at my school are either douchebags, have girlfriends, or are gay."

"Oh. Ok. So why are you happy?"

"Being happy isn't a crime, ya know. You can be happy without having a reason."

"But you're usually sarcastic. Something's up."

"Ok fine, you got me."

"I knew it! You have a boyfriend."

"No you dimwit. My brother came down from Canada and he's gonna stay for awhile."

"Oh that's cool."

"Yeah that's one of the reasons we were out of town, to pick him up from the airport."

"I didn't know you had a brother."

"There's a lot of things you don't know about me, August."

"Then that gives me all of a more reason to talk to you, that is, if you don't disappear for a month like that again."

"There's a lot I don't know about you either so I guess that means we need to talk more."

"It appears so."
