Sophia needed an excuse to go to Chicago to take a visit to the Cartier store. She had stolen one of David's rings to ensure that the size would be perfect. She had already bought him the key chain and the ring that she had intended on buying him, but he had been obsessed with this other ring lately and wouldn't stop talking about it. He was gonna buy it for himself back in LA, so she wanted to beat him to it. The perfect excuse was Jason and Trisha arriving at the Chicago airport. David was having a lot of fun filming and reconnecting with his friends from back home, so he didn't think twice when she offered to pick them up from the airport. The drive wasn't too long and Sophia used the time to call Matt and catch up with him. They had been in Vernon Hills for almost a week and while she loved seeing David happy, she couldn't get into the small town vibe. It just wasn't something she was used to.

"Yeah, I guess it's just because there's no noise or traffic. Thankfully David's a psychopath and always doing crazy shit or I'd be bored out of my mind."

"How'd it go with his family? I know you were worried about that."

"First of all, his sisters are hilarious. I literally love them. His little brother was really shy at first but he's opened up a little more. He told David I was pretty." Sophia giggled, keeping her eyes focused on the road.

"And the parents?"

"So great. They're the sweetest people ever. David might be crazy but he's the softest bitch you'll ever meet and it's so cute that his parents are the same way. That entire house is just so warm and inviting."

"That's amazing. I'm so glad everything went smoothly. I'm leaving tonight to go back to Texas." Matt commented, his voice ringing through the car's speakers.

"How do you feel about that?"

"I mean, everyone has basically gone home for Christmas so I'm actually kinda excited. Things have been pretty uneventful since you left."

"My humblest apologies. I'll make sure to make your life is extra exciting when we go back to LA. Actually, you should meet us in the Keys. My family is going and we've been inviting everyone. New Years on the beach is such a good time."

"That sounds so fun. I'm down, actually."

"Good. If you don't go I'll take it as a personal attack."

The two of them laughed and chatted for the rest of the trip until she arrived at the airport. He had to finish packing and getting ready to go home. Sophia parked outside of the gate and waited for Jason and Trisha to emerge. She honked excitedly when she saw them and laughed to herself when she processed their outfits. They were wearing matching hoodies and pants with clunky Gucci shoes. She honestly loved their dynamic. It was so entertaining. She opened up the trunk for them and Jason loaded the back before following Trisha into the car. They greeted each other excitedly before Sophia took off towards the Cartier store.

"Let me get this straight. You already spent four grand on a ring, yet you're buying him another one?" Jason asked from the passengers seat, crossing his arms.

"Babe! Let her spend her money how she wants to." Trisha yelled, smacking his shoulder playfully.

"I did. I also got him a little something that's more like a inside thing between us. He just won't shut up about that panther ring so I feel like he'd be kinda disappointed that I didn't get him that."

"Disappointed? David is such a little bitch. He would be grateful for anything from you." He laughed, making the girls giggle.

"Yeah, but he deserves a nice gift."

"That ring is ridiculously expensive."

"I know. It's a lot, and it hurts, but it's what he wants." Sophia smiled, pulling up to the curb and parking on the side of the street. The three of them hopped out of the car and into the Cartier store.

David wasn't ever that boujee, so she knew that this was something he really wanted. She had the money, and all she wanted was to make him happy. He always spent money on her and it made her feel bad. She knew that he would try to pay her back for it, and that they'd probably fight over it, but it was what he had been eyeing for weeks. They grabbed the ring before heading back to Vernon Hills. David was really excited that Jason and Trisha were visiting for a few days before going back to LA for Christmas. Trisha hid the bag in her luggage so David wouldn't see anything. As soon at Sophia pulled up to his house, he came out running and holding his camera like a little kid. It made them all laugh as he set up the bits and tried to gather as much footage as he could.

"Alrigh, Dave. It's freezing." Jason shook his head and chuckled, David helped them bring the luggage into his house.

"Are you guys coming to the Keys?" David wondered, sitting on the edge of the couch's armrest. Sophie sat down next to him, resting her head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around her instinctively.

"I want to but Jason's being grumpy about it." Trisha pouted, Jason rolling his eyes.

"David, I have kids you know."

"The kids are gonna be with your ex anyways. Stop being ancient and have a good time!" David groaned, shaking his head in disagreement.

"Trisha, you should come even if he doesn't." Sophia smiled, giggling as Trisha nodded.

"Well fuck me I guess." Jason joked, making them all crack up.
