Misha's POV:

"I told my parents to break off the engagement last night. I told them the entire thing Zohaib said." Rubab broke the news to me and Zoya. Zoya and I just exchanged looks before turning back to her. "I don't think I can do what Fahad wanted. There is already so many problems. I can't bring in anymore."

"And what did your parents say?" Zoya questioned cautiously as we both focused our attention on her. She was finally opening up to us properly ever since that day at the restaurant.

"They threw a fit but they were supportive sort off. They said they will talk to Zohaib's family and find a valid excuse rather than call their son crazy." Rubab replied and now that I looked at her closely, she looked so tired. Dark circles adorned her face and she just looked disheveled. "I don't know if his family will agree though."

"You did the right thing." I replied as I squeezed her shoulder in assurance.

"Did I?" Rubab sounded unsure. "I hurt my family. I saw the way their expressions changed when I told them the entire story. Vanya has such a successful marriage and she has become an amazing surgeon. Farrukh got into a foreign university on scholarship and everyone is proud of him too but I am the black sheep of the family. I didn't want to do this, I really didn't want to disappoint my family ever but I never expected this."

"Don't worry. I am sure your family will understand. You stopped this at the right time. It would have been more difficult for you and your family if you had asked for a divorce instead." Zoya added and Rubab just gave us a distant look. I realized that no matter what we say, this was something she was going to overcome on her own accord. We could just support her from the side.

"Yeah. Anyway, I have to get home early today because I have to prepare for the viva. I am leaving now. Allah hafiz." Rubab got up, hugged us goodbye, leaving me and Zoya at the food court. We had decided to meet at the mall because Zoya had to get birthday gifts for his twin cousins.

"She sure has it rough, huh?" Zoya said as she watched Rubab's retreating back. "It is weird how things can change so much."

"I know, I never would have thought that all this would happen to us in a span of five to six years." I replied.

"That's just how life is." Zoya replied as she got up. "Come on, I am thinking of getting Saad something too. It's weird to give the twins stuff but not him."

"What do you have in mind?" I questioned as I slowly got up, fetching my bag and phone from the table.

"I am thinking a perfume?" Zoya replied thoughtfully.

"Or a wallet?" I suggested.

"Let's go check them out then."

Ten minutes later, we were stuck between deciding between three perfumes.

"I feel like Saad would like the Hermes one but I personally like the Versace one. But then again, the one you chose smells so heavenly and I want him to try something new." Zoya looked between the three bottles with a frown. It was quite amusing to see her so distraught. She really was thinking hard on this.

"If only, you had thought this hard in your law exams, you would have aced them." I joked and she looked at me in mock surprise.

"Oh please, I have boys who help me with that. I don't need to waste my own brain cells." Zoya replied shamelessly and it was my turn to gape at her. She really was flexing that hard which was why I loved her.

"I don't know whether to be proud of you or embarrassed." I shook my head while smiling.

"I know you love me." She smirked as she finally decided on the Hermes perfume. I knew she would buy that in the end. It was just like her.
