Misha's POV:

I hummed to some random tune as I walked back to my university café. Today was nothing less than perfect minus Kamran's call. I hope he doesn't track Zoya down. She needed to get far, far away. If Kamran belonged to that family, hell, even I might intervene to save her life. But then again, Zoya's family was pretty determined to protect her but who wouldn't want to? The things she witnessed as a child continue to haunt her even in adulthood. She didn't deserve this. But it's what fate has planned for her. I looked up at the sky and closed my eyes.

Ya Allah, please protect her. She is the sister I never had. Never let any harm come to her Ameen.

I slowly opened my eyes only to see a frowning Usman looking back at me. I sighed heavily as I tried to cross him but he blocked my way. It hadn't even been ten minutes since Ibraheem had dropped me back and he was already here. I don't even want to imagine what Ibraheem would do to him if he sees him standing with me. I shuddered at the thought.

"Was this why you rejected me? Cause of that brute?" Usman crossed his arms across his chest as he stared me down. Did he see me with Ibraheem just now? Was he keeping an eye on me or something?

"Yeah, so?" I replied bitterly. Usman calling Ibraheem a brute pissed me off.

"He is really violent, Misha. I don't mind you rejecting me, I mean yeah it hurts but to think you are still around that guy bothers me. He could hurt you in a fit of anger. I am just worried about you." I could see the concern in Usman's eyes but somehow, everything he said was only making me angrier. I managed to keep a straight face as I replied.

"Don't worry about my business. It's best if you keep your distance from me. Goodbye Usman." I sidestepped him and walked away leaving him alone there.

....

"Asalam o Alaikum ammi jaan!" I hugged my mother tightly as she returned my hug. "Khanay men kya bhana hai? (What's there to eat?)"

"Chicken Karahi." Ammi replied as she kissed my forehead. I beamed at her answer. Ammi's karahi hit different.

"Perfect. I will come down once I take a shower." I replied but she stopped me before I could take the stairs up.

"Why is your face so red? Do you have a fever?" I felt my heart stop at that because of how perceptive she was. Mothers are able to pick up on everything. I had been blushing all day because of my little date with Ibraheem and how cute he was with me.

"I think it's the summer heat." I grinned and she looked at me thoughtfully for a second before answering.

"Should I give you a cooling pad? You sure you don't feel dizzy?"

"Don't worry mama jaan. It will go away over time." I assured her and she slowly nodded her head in agreement. I slowly retreated from the lounge and moved towards my room. Once inside, I let go of the breath I didn't know I was holding in.

I was relieved to know that the brothers were out right now or they would have roasted me or worse yet, interrogated me about it. I facepalmed as I remembered Ibraheem's smug face. No wonder he looked so proud. My body suddenly felt warm so I decided to take a shower to clear my head. My phone buzzed in my bag so I took it out to see a text message from Ibraheem.

Did my love get home safely? – Ibraheem. I grinned at his message. How was he so cute?

Yes, she did. Did my husband get home safely too? – Me. My cheeks turned a shade of pink as I texted him this. It was going to take a while to get used to this.

No, he is still out right now because he has to meet a friend. – Ibraheem. Friend? Who could it be?

What friend? – Me.
