The Scouts

The next day, you woke up next to Jean. It felt strange as he'd usually be gone in the morning but this time, the sun was up there was Jean, snoring next to you. You smiled looking up at him and he must have felt your gaze as his eyes began to flutter open. He looked down at you and pulled you closer.

"This is nice." He muttered as he kissed the top of your head. "What is?"

"Waking up next to you. I hated leaving you every morning." You couldn't hide it, your cheeks turned bright red. "Are you blushing?" He teased and you buried your face in his chest. "NO." you spat but he laughed.

"The others are going to see you though, you have to be careful."

"They probably already know, and no more hiding, remember?" he whispered. You were nervous about the others reactions, but seeing how your life can end just like that, you didn't want to waste any more time with Jean.

You both got dressed and Jean helped you pack your things as you were heading the the Scouts HQ. as you left your room Sasha opened the door to the room in front of yours and froze.

"J-Jean?" Jean smiled sheepishly, handed you your bags then kissed you on the cheek then left. Rolling your eyes, knowing he just wanted to put on a show for Sasha.

"What was that...Y/N..." Sasha asked hesitantly, before you could respond Ymir and Krista appeared.

"She's dating horse face, didn't you know?" glaring at Ymir she smirked while Krista hit tried to cover her mouth. "WHAT SINCE WHEN?!" Sasha dropped her bags on the floor and was jumping up and down.

"Who cares, let's just go." Mikasa interrupted nonchalantly and you left Sasha there with her mouth open.

Jean reached the boys' room and was greeted with a smirking Connie in the hallway. "So...where you've been?" Connie teased.

"Nowhere." Jean replied but he was smiling. "Yeah right. You could have told me, I wouldn't have told anyone." Jean noticed the sourness in Connie's voice and sighed. "I didn't tell anyone Connie and now you know so...I'll fill you in more, okay?"

Connie asked Jean when it started and Jean told him about how when you sparred, he just suddenly felt the urge to kiss you and he did, which lead to him sneaking into your room every night after that. He even told Connie about him punishing you for joining the Scouts, which made him chuckle as he was about pack to head to their HQ.

Ever since the battle of Trost, Connie seemed to try to get along with more people and get closer to Jean. Seeing all his friends day really made him realize the importance of having people around as a soldier.

"Whatever..." Connie rolled his eyes but Jean saw a slight smile. "I'm happy for you though...you were less of an ass when you were with her." Jean shoved him playfully and headed towards his room to pack.

Suddenly, Bertholdt was in front of him and Jean looked down. He was about to pass Jean but he quickly grabbed Bertholdt' arm. "H-hey...I-I was an ass towards you...it was

Cause I thought you and Y/N—"

"I know...don't worry." Jean was shocked, he didn't expect Bertholdt to let it go that easily, how Jean was extra hard on him during combat training and yelling insults to him whenever he could.

"I thought—"

"Jean...it's fine, just...take care of her alright?" Bertholdt smiled and Jean slowly nodded. As soon as Jean reached his room he froze. Looking to the room in front of his, Marco's door was still open.

Closing his eyes to stop the tears from forming, he quickly entered his room, packed and left.

As the cadets reached the HQ, they're greeted by Eren who's shocked to see Jean among them. Eren then bows his head as he hears about Marco's death. You started cracking your neck as its been bothering you and Jean walks over to give you a slight massage.

"W-what is that?" Eren's eyes widen as he points at you and Jean in shock. You chuckle seeing Eren's dumbfounded face. "Stop looking at her, you psycho." Jean hisses and Armin laughs while pulling Eren away.

There, you learned about the operation and you officially began your training as a member of the Scout Regiment. The new members were told about an upcoming mission—but were given very little detail about it which caused Jean to worry. They were taught Erwin's long-range scouting formation training and still had ODM gear training as well to improve their skills.

Jean would still sneak into your room every night but now he'd stay until the morning.

One night, Jean didn't come and you were worried but knew nothing could have happened to him in HQ. As you were walking to formation training you spotted Jean in the stables.

"Jean...what are you doing here?" You chuckled as you entered the stables. Jean was in the middle of sweeping away horse poop as he looked at you and huffed. "Captain Levi caught me trying to sneak into your room last night...." He grumbled and you laughed, "It's not funny." He snapped and you rolled your eyes. Walking closer to him, you wrapped your arms around his waist and ran your hands down his chest. You felt him shudder under your touch and you smirked.

"Do you want me to make you feel better?" you teased and Jean raised an eyebrow. He nodded and placed his forward on yours. "Uh-huh." He breathed and started to pull you closer.

"You'll have your surprise tonight, don't worry." You winked and walked away.

"Come on! No one's here." Jean huffed as he tried to follow you out the stables. Walking back, you stroked his member which caused Jean to let out a slight moan. "Patience." You whispered seductively in his ear and left once more, leaving Jean breathing heavily and making a better plan to sneak into your room tonight.

It was time for the 57th Expedition of the Scout Regiment. You spent days training and studying Erwin's formation. The Scouts were all lined up by the gate to the outside world and you were stationed next to Sasha and Krista.

Fixing your horse's stirrups, your mind raced with fear and excitement. You were finally seeing what was out there but also, entering titan territory. You tried to block the memories of your friends getting eaten but your hands clenched around the stirrups as you heard their screams in your head.

Suddenly you felt arms around your waist. Turning around, you met jean's golden eyes. Knowing the danger of the expedition, Jean was more affectionate towards you last night, asking if you were okay and whispering that he loved you whenever he could. You wished everyone could see this side of Jean, but knew it was hard for him to open up to most people, only you and Marco knew who he really was.

"I won't let anything happen to you." Jean whispered as he looked into your eyes. "We're not even in the same position in the formation."

"Still. I'll find you if I need to. I'll always protect you." Jean's voice was serious and you smiled. "Who says I need protecting?" Jean rolled his eyes but placed a kiss on your lips.

"EW!" Connie yelled from behind you which made Sasha giggle. "Shut up, Connie." Jean spat. "It's gonna take me a while to get used to this." Eren muttered under his breath which caused a glare from Jean. You laughed and placed one more kiss on Jean's cheek as you mounted your horse and he did too. Bertholdt looked back at you and smirked seeing how happy you were.

You hear Erwin's battle cry as the gates open and the crowd cheering. Your heart stops and this is it. You're finally a Scout, and Jean is by your side.
