All that for a compass....

Tw ⚠️: language, panic attacks, guns/gunshots

my breathing was getting rapidly fast when john b didnt instantly pop up jj was standing behind me in hopes to calm me down but everyones little comments abt him being out of air wasnt helpful either

after what felt like forever john b popped up out the water "there he is" jj yells from behind me causing all of us to relax me and jj run to the latter to help him up "did you find anything" jj asked "of course thats all your worried about" i said grabbing his gear from the latter "did i find anything" john b says sacastically tossing a bag at jj

"there you go thats my boy" jj says laughing with a smile plastered on his face as i looked at him it warmed my heart to see him happy in the end him being this happy made me happy "are you okay" kie asked as he climbed the latter "yea i ran out of air" he responds "you scared the shit out of me" i said ounching him in his arm

"yeah the cops were up here but uh.. we took care of them" pope says reassuring him "yeah you kinda missed the show brother" jj made his stupid comments

i looked over at kie noticing she hadnt spoken in a while and followed her gaze to a boat that looked like it was coming towards us "hey guys ? guys bogey two o'clock" kie said trying to get everyones attention everyone turned around and looked at the same boat we were all in small shook

i felt jj grab my hand as i squeezed it "do you recognize that boat?" pope asked the group which was followed by everyone say they have never seen it "what are they doing back there?" kie says "isnt the marsh closed?" i basically finish kie's sentence "idk princess but lets not stick around and find out" jj says letting go of my hand "jj get the bowline" john b says i was scared so i just kinda sat down waiting for jj to come back to me as everryone else was pnicking. jj getting the bowline , john b starting the boat.

"should we wait on them" pope questioned i thought he was the smart one but honestly that was the stuidest thing ive ever heard out his mouth john b told him to get the sterm as kiara yells at jj to hurry up knowing im panicking on the inside

we started moving as jj finished pulling up the bowline he looks bad at the boat everyone is panicking and shouting as im in the corner huddled in a ball shaking " are they coming for us" jj says which freaks me out more i just wanna be in his arms where the world feels safe

john b turns into the marsh telling us to act natrual as jj comes over to me sitting next to me wrapping his arms around me "hey princess it okay were gonna be okay" he whispers in my ear i get out of my curled up ball position wrapping my arms around his torso tightly softly crying into his chest as he puts his hand on mine rubbing my back

"hey guys they are following us" i hear kie say "shit" jj says under his breath holding me tighter i hate this so much i have so much fear flowing through my body right now i wanna be helpful but its so much but then it happens

the sound of a gun shoot goes off as jj pulls us to the ground as i started shaking i hate guns everyone in the outerbanks knows it they scare me to death and now were being followed and shot at great this is exactly how i wanted my day to go

"john b get down please" jj cried out knowing id freak if someone got hurt even though right now im no help but john b  just keeps driving the boat as more gun shots go off "omg were gonna die" i hear pope say which didnt help more panicking or my fast breathing or any of it

more and more gun shots as we continue to speed up through the marsh "get down kie" john b yells my thought process jumps to the worse why is she not staying down whats goiong on just rapid fire thoughts in my head right now while jj is stroking my hair in attempt to calm me down

there was one finally gun shot before pope got up "were okay know lets get up" jj whispered in my ear as i nodded slowly standing up with him as everyone was hollering and cheering at the fact that kie had stopped them with the fish net

when i was finally on my feet kie brought me into a giant hug i was glad she was okay i mean we almost died "were okay" she said "were okay" i repeated that was her way of reminding me that things were okay or were at least going to be in situations like this

we pulled up to the dock as we all rushed off the boat and jj tied off the boat of course i waited for him and when he was done he pulled me into his side as we followed behind the rest of the group excited to see what john b had found from the mysterious boat

"what do you guys think it is" kie asks i shrugged "gotta be mone right" john b said digging into the black bag we were all circled around him waiting "that or a couple of keys with street values to the low-to mid- mils!" jj said laughing with john b "not funny" i say slapping jj's arm "can we please just open the bag" pope blurts out in an impaitent manner and we all kinda just stare at him

"wow pope thats a rare outburst of emotion" john b saying going back to digging in the bag "you guys are literally killing me with anticipation just open the bag we almost died over this" pope say in a rushing tone "i do have to agree with him on this one hurry up" i said crossing my arms

john b pulls out a grey capsle and untwists the top pulling out a compass "oh wow yup thats about right good job everybody he found a compass" pope says frusturated i watched john b stare at this useless compass i looked at the compass realizing "brook?" he question looking back at me i nodding my head understanding exactly what was going through his head

i kneeled down towards him looking at it intensely "guys what are you doing its not worth anything" jj says john b and i look at each other giving each other soft smiles as i look back up at jj "this was my fathers" john b says low under his breath but just loud enough that everyone heard
