Chicken coop...

"Look my dad used to talk about this compartment in here" I looked closely at the brunette haired boy as he spoke and messed with his fathers compass that JJ claims is cursed "soldiers used to hide secret notes" he continued

Kie went and looked over his shoulder as he unscrewed something on the compass shaking it to see if something would come out "what's that" kie asked and I moved to look at it from their view and there was writing on the compass "that wasn't there before" the boy holding the compass send low under his breath

"Your dad" I spoke with a soft smile as John b looked at me with hope in his eyes he looked back at the compass and back at me "this is my dads handwriting" he says a smile forming cause a smile on my face as-well until "how can you know that for sure" pope questions with uneasy settling in his voices "because big John does his 'R's weird with the That yea" I explained as John b showed everyone big johns fancy looking 'R's

"Can I see it" my blonde boy asks moving close behind me I look down with a smile as I feel him press against me slightly "red—rout no I think that's an a" he tried to read it before being interrupted "It says red field" kie interrupted I slapped her softly "hey he was trying" I said with a small laugh

"Okay well what's red field" kie asked and I looked at her with confusion red field was the most common name around here so why she was questioning it was confusing to me but as always pope beat me to saying my thoughts at loud "other than the most common name in the country" he said "maybe maybe it's a clue" John b said sitting back in his chair "maybe it's a clue to where he's hiding" I suggested "a clue come on that's-" pope says but is interrupted with me hitting him and kie clearing her throat

"But if it is a clue maybe it's an anagram" he continues which sparks John b up and JJ rolls his eyes next to me when I feel him grab my hand probably for comfort but who knows " yes. Perfect. Anagram. You need paper" John b says trying to find paper while kie agrees

John b hands pope paper and pope sighs and the rooster outside starts making a lot of noise "how can you concentrate with that thing crowing at you" pope says stressed out JJ let's go of me to go look at what popes doing "JJ loves the rooster" John b replies as JJ looks at me "you did not just call my rooster a thing" I said as I crossed my arms and walk towards the window

I somewhat tuned everyone out as I looked out the window when a car that I didn't recognize pulled into the drive way "hey guys someone's here" I spoke staring at the window they all moved close behind me to look as JJ basically squeezes me wrapping his arms around me to stop me from panicking

We all watch the guys get out of the car "hey guys is that them" kie asks "no" JJ Denys causing my breathing to start speeding up JJ pulled me away from the window pulling me into his chest rubbing my back he let's go of me for a sec "John b I told you why does it always " JJ was cut off when John b pushed him up against the wall

Kie grabbed my hand to help steady my breath again but it wasnt working "JJ hey look at me where the gun" he asks the blonde pinned up against the wall "gun? I uh I can't" JJ shakes his hand as he locks eye contact with me "now you don't have the gun I know brooks scared of them but the one time we actually need it you don't have it" kie yells letting go of my hand

Why does everyone keep letting go of me I'm freaking out JJ closes his eyes to retrace his steps "it's on the porch" John b yells and JJ takes off to the front porch as John b turns around and looks at me "brook he's going to be ok we all are going to be okay" he says looking at me "JOHN ROUTLEDGE" the men yelled tears started to fall as JJ ran right back into the room closing the door "guys" I spoke as my voice crack I didn't like this not one bit

"Come on out fuck where's the compass" one of the men yelled I couldn't stand I walked to a corner of the room and sat down in a ball "where's the gun" I squeezed my eyes shut "they are on the front porch guys I couldn't get it" JJ sighs pushing past everyone come over to me

I knew it was him because he wrapped himself around me and I was intoxicated with the smell of weed and his cologne we all heard the men breaking things through the house yelling for John b to come out "hey hey princess look at me" he spoke softly but I couldn't I had started shaking I didn't like this it felt so much like home "Brooklyn come on you need to breathe" he said "JJ" I whispered "I'm right here I am right here" he whispered back pulling me into him "i can't do this again" i said slowly opening my eyes "again" he said but we were interrupted by the sound of someone banging on the door

It seemed like we spaced out of reality kie and pope were scraping the paint off the window because they were painted shut and John be was trying to hold the door closed "stay right here" he said as he got up to help kie with the window and pope helped John b the all signaled for everyone to be silent as the guy on the other side started kicking at the door

Both boys ran from the door and I heard the sound of a gun "JJ it's a gun" I whispered yelled tears falling once again but all he could do was to me to be quiet they finally got the window open and everyone went through the window JJ grabbed my arm helping me out the window We all ran to the chicken coop to hide

We were all squished in the chicken coop me closer to JJ as I ever have been in my whole life but it's okay I felt safe it was freaking the rooster out with all of us in there

We heard the guys come out of the house "he's being to loud" I said talking about the rooster "do something pope shut him up" JJ said motioning towards the loud ass rooster  John b was looking out the little holes "what do you want me to do" pope asked

"Pet it or talk to it I don't know just do something" kie said and it hurt to hear her voice crack the chicken started to freak out some more trying to flap its wings and leave but there was no space

John b moved back away from the opening I assume someone is looking at the chicken coop I mean why wouldn't they the chicken is freaking out "JJ do something" I whispered as the chicken flew by us

JJ practically tackled the rooster to the ground grabbing it by the neck he looks at me tears falling down his face and mine and then we all hear a crack as JJ starts shaking backing away from the now dead chicken

I froze and when JJ sat back he wrapped himself around me telling me how sorry he is as John b calmed kie down I didn't know how to feel anymore I had to leave

We hear the engine start as they drive away and me and kie start sobbing JJ let go of me to grab the rooster so me and kie embraced each other in a hug trying to comfort each other John b watched and waited for them to leave before we all climbed out of the chicken coop

I didn't know how to feel everyone was destroyed in John b's house , kie and pope had to go home "hey JJ I think ima head home" I said grabbing his arm "Brooklyn Caldwell your not going back there" he said and he meant it "I'll be back in an hour I just want to change if I'm not back then you can come bang the door down" I said as we put our foreheads together looking into each other's eyes he took the hair that feel infront of my face putting it behind my ear "okay but be safe and if she fuckingn touches you leave come find me" he said as I nodded backing away heading off to my car
