Death compass...

I had to do something for my 'lovely' mother even though JJ insisted me not to so I took my jeep and went to get food for my mom dropping it off at the porch I definitely didn't want to be here longer than I had too

...

I drove down to John b's to see everyone on the porch and what looks like JJ telling a story I giggled seeing him telling the story I walked in sitting down next to pope"and we were right outside like this" he leans up against the wall "and all we hear is just bam bam bam knocking paint off the wall G from the inside all right and I'm just looking at them" he points to me and John b "like wait first off look at this shit" he walks to the middle of all of us shaking his hair as white paint chips fall out "that's dandruff disgusting" kie says looking at it fall with disgust "okay that's enough JJ" I said kicking him "look at all that all right that's paint" he says as he starts breath heavy I knew this was traumatized for both me and him

"At that point I was just like I'm waiting for death" he said being overdramatic "oh okay so you saw the guys that shot at us right" pope asked trying to wrap his head around what JJ just said "yes" I said "did you get a good description of them what did they look like" he asked looking between the three of us "anything is helpful" kie said I shook my head no "anything we can bring to a police report " pope continues "burly" JJ says pope repeats it just to clarify that's what he heard "that's not very helpful" kie says "she's got a point" I added probably not helping but I didn't want to have this conversation as much as JJ didn't want to be having this conversation

"Okay well no like the type of guy at my dads garage I mean you guys know he made cargo hides for drug smugglers" he says as he looks at me with sudden sadness in his eyes "I can tell you with full confidence these boys these killers " he says taking out his vape taking a hit "there square groupers"

I got up and took it from him he did not need to be getting high right now I get it's a deep vibe but not the time "they're square groupers like narco square groupers" pope looked frustrated "like Pablo Escobar square groupers" pope continued

"News flash not everything is a kingpin movie you guys" I said with a smile on my face "okay so what does this square grouper look like" pope asks and I know this is gonna push JJ over board I just know it

My assumption were right "you weren't there" JJ snaps "apparently you don't know what to look for" pope snaps right back at them "guys chill out" I said trying to intervene since I was literally in the middle "dude I wasn't taking little mental Polaroids the entire time I was under duress okay" there it is he snapped like completely he took a few breaths before continuing "but I can tell you I can tell you by the way ms Lana was screaming that these guys are serious hombres man" he walked over and sat next to me I leaned my head on his shoulder intertwining our hands "it's a heavy vibe right now okay I'm not liking this very much " JJ looking down at our hands  "can I please have it back" he whispers "I don't think that's a good idea right now" I whispered back he pulls me into him as I let me he needs me right now just as much I need him all the time

"Why do they want the compass" kie speaks up "its a piece of shit you couldn't pawn it off for five bucks if you wanted to" pope said I slap the side of his leg "no offense John b I know it's in your family and all" pope says as a quick apology "the office" John b speaks for the first time since I got there I looked up at him "my dad my dads office" he started walking inside we all simply followed him "he always kept the office locked because he was worried about his competitors stealing the royal merchant research we used to laugh at him like he was gonna find it but now that he's gone I've just kinda I just left it as he kept it" he says as we all reach the door watching John b unlock it

"Yeah for when he gets back" kie says smiling at John b who agrees me and JJ looked at each other still not understanding what's going on between those two

He opens the door and there is was big johns office exactly how it was before his disappearance "I've slept over here like 600 times and I've never seen this door opened" pope said fascinated by everything he saw "I guess I'm the only special one then" I said trying to bring comedy into a sad time

John b took something off the wall placing it on the desk "this is the original owner right here" pointing to the first picture "okay Robert Q. Routledge 1880 to 1920 there's the lucky compass right there" kie read to the rest of us "actually um he was shit after he bought it" he said looking at us all

I hear the rooster that crowing "then the compass was shipped back to Henry he was killed in a crop dusting accident when he had the compass" John b continued pointing to the next picture "after he died the compass was given to Stephen. Stephen had the compass with him when he died in Vietnam" "let me guess he died in action right" JJ interrupted "sort of uh actually he was killed by a banana truck in country" he confirms as the rest of us share weird looks "anyways after that Stephen passed the compass down to him my dad" as he points to a picture of his father "hmm sounds like there's a reoccurring theme here" JJ says looking at everyone I nodded "yeah um you have a death compass" pope says "no I do not" John b says in denials as pope keeps repeating himself "please get rid of it" I said "it's cursed and it made its way back to you" JJ says to add on to my comment as John b goes towards the window
