The Dove And The Crow

He told me he loved me, I know that he lied for he was the one that said "goodbye"
He always loved her and never saw me
For she is the dove and I,
I am the crow

He saw her shining feathers made of silk, he saw her soar and he wanted her
For she was a dove so beautiful and free
I helped him, I helped her but, in the end she flew away

My feathers fell away, ripped apart every time he said "I want her"
I tried to help, I really did
One day, he said he wanted me and I believed

It wasn't long until he told me that he still loved her
For she was the dove and I,
I am the crow

The day he sent me away, he burned my wings
I lay there but, he was cruel and wanted me to suffer...at least that is what I want to believe

She never knew how much he loved her
I am the crow and she is the dove
Tell me, how do you change love to in love?

She flies free, unscratched, unchanged, unscathed by life
Her wings still shimmer and shine and all the men see her
For she is the dove and I,
I am the crow that cannot fly,my wings broken beyond repair
She is the dove and I,
I am the crow left in the shadows
Never good enough to be his dove
His love
