When The Sun Rises

I miss the way you used to be
I miss the way you'd smile at me
How the joy would make the corners of your eyes crinkle
You'd laugh softly, I miss that, how real it sounded
I listen to it now and that little light of laughter cannot be found

You still laugh, you joke but, your smile doesn't quite reach your eyes
I don't think I've ever seen someone with such sad, solemn eyes
You look upon yourself and you can't help but, despise what you see
You used to walk with your head held high, you don't anymore
You keep your eyes glued to the floor
You're scared to acknowledge your life

I still think you're beautiful even if you're fading
You're like a sunset
You're falling into darkness
You're slowly fading but...
You're still perfect and you make people stop and stare
Just like a sunset

But, just like the sun sets
I know you'll rise again
From your darkest hour
I know you're strong enough to come back, as beautiful as ever

I hope to see your brilliant, bright smile again, when the sun rises and the darkness ends
