Mowgli's screams escaped the woven basket and shook the Jungle with an unfamiliar tremor. The abandoned baby sought its mother with its voice, amplifying in volume with every minute spent in solitude.

A sleek panther was first to reach the source of the cries. It sniffed the basket for a minute, examining the unknown species contained within. Then a bite to the throat and all was silent again. It prepared to feast on the body.

A bullet ripped the restored silence, and the animal's body, to shreds. A panther's head will make a fine new trophy. The hunter turned to his lackey.

"Bring another baby, please. I think I saw a bear around here as well."
