A/N- This is based on Pokémon Sun and Moon, Episode 68, the one where they are working in the Pokemon centre and ash gets shoved in a dress, this was fun to write. They aren't dating in this.

"Use Crush Claw!"

Silvally growled and shook its head yet again, the action bringing a sigh to Gladion’s lips. It’s been about five months since he ran away with Null, or Silvally, so the rebellion was slightly confusing, to say the least.

“What’s going on?” he asked, a voice echoing around the walls of the dark cave. Silvally huffed irritated. It had been doing that a lot since Gladion brought it out of its Pokéball, and it was getting pretty concerning.

“Is there something in the cave? Here, if you’ll just let me help—” Gladion gasped as Silvally gave him a dangerous, warning snarl, telling him to back off. But the blonde was just as stubborn.

He reached out again, extending a pale hand forward. Silvally was about to react when Lycanroc interrupted, red eyes flashing.

“Roc!”

Lycanroc shot a Stone Edge attack somewhere in the cave, eyes illuminating. Poison was shot — Sludge Bomb, maybe? — hitting Lycanroc right from the back. It fell on one knee in pain as the poison quickly took effect.

Multiple attacks came from in front of them. Lycanroc flew across the cave and hit the wall painfully. Gladion flinched before glaring in the direction of the culprits.

Multiple Zubat revealed themselves, wings fluttering around. Silvally was quick to dodge their next attack, using Air Slash to send them away. Gladion nodded approvingly before pulling out the Premier ball in his bag.

“Return, and thanks,” he commanded, eyes flitting to the side where he knew Lycanroc lay. When Silvally went back into its Pokéball, Gladion ran towards his other Pokémon, who had curled up on itself in pain.

“Thank you, Lycanroc,” he mumbled, eyes softening when it just groaned. He returned it too before turning to the entrance of the cave.

“Let’s get Nurse Joy to fix you up,” he said, feeling the Pokéball wiggle in his hands.

Gladion raised his hand to wipe the sweat off his forehead, silently cursing Alola’s unfortunately hot weather. It didn’t help that his clothes were long-sleeved and fully black. He had just reached the Pokémon Centre, giving a weird look towards the Team Skull grunt standing outside. Honestly, they got on his nerves a lot.

The blonde was just about to enter the centre when he heard a group of familiar voices.

“At least let me take off the wig!”

“Aw, but you look so cute with it on!”

“Yeah, but it’s really itchy. Please?”

“Pika!”

“Fine.”

“...Ash?” Gladion muttered, his heart fluttering uncontrollably. It has been a long time since he’s seen the cheerful boy, with everything that’s happened since the Nihilego incident. He had been wondering how he was doing but never gathered up the time or courage to actually check.

Thinking about it now, Gladion’s heart rate picked up. Would Ash even be glad to see him?

He quickly pulled out a Pokéball, releasing the little creature. Umbreon stretched lazily, stopping when she saw her trainer’s expression. Her ears lifted in concern.

“I’m fine,” Gladion said, though the Pokémon wasn’t really fooled. She gave him a judging look before nudging him, reminding him that he was still standing outside the Pokémon Centre entrance like a weird creep. No better than that Team Skull grunt, that was for sure.
