Protecting Her

Chapter One

Nobody's POV

Derek Black walks into his room, he hears the shower running and the scent of his beautiful mate hits him from that direction. He snaps out of his trance as his phone rings, he pulls it out to see 'Drew' light up the screen so he slides to answer

"Drew, what's up bro?" He says
"Derek, bro, I need some help" Drew says, Derek furrows his eyebrows
"What happened?" He asks, on the other side of the line, Drew sighs as he runs his hand through his hair looking out the window as his daughter and mate are arriving home
"Sarah is in danger" He says, Derek's eyes widen at the mention of the young girl that is like his family
"What do you need exactly?" The Alpha King asks
"Help in keeping her safe. I know Mason is Alpha now but can you pull some strings? Help that kid out on this?" Drew asks, Derek nods then hears the shower water shut off
"You helped me 20 years ago, so of course we will help you" He says, Drew sighs in relief
"Thanks man" Drew says as Rose steps out with only a towel around her frame.

She looks at Derek with concerned eyes, all he does is smile at his wife
"I'll get in contact with you after speaking to Mason. Tell Mandy and Sarah hi from us" He says then hangs up as Rose goes to the drawers
"What happened?" She asks
"Drew needs protection for Sarah" Derek says, her eyes widen
"Sarah?! Why? What's going on?" She asks concerned for the girl that is like a niece to her, he pulls his wife towards him sighing
"She's in danger. He didn't say who or what is the threat" Derek says, his mate sighs

"Poor girl, god hopefully it's nothing too dangerous" She says, Derek nods as his hand trails up the towel
"I'm going to tell Mason, so he can take the offer since he needs to learn how to he a good Alpha" Derek says, Rose hums as her husbands fingers inch closer to her area
"So many years together and we never get tired of each other or this" Derek murmurs as he kisses her arm
"We are soul mates, we'll never get tired of each other idiot" She says, he laughs then places his lips on hers.

Mason Black

I run backwards, my eyes on the football in Steves hands, he throws a perfect throw and I catch it with ease.

"Mas! Your parents need to talk to you bro" My beta, Josh, calls out. I nod jogging to the house followed by Steve, we go into my dads study to see him and mom talking but stop once we walk in

"What's going on?" I ask as my mom gets off my dads desk coming over to my cousin and me
"Hey Aunt Rose" Steve says smiling, she smiles hugging him
"How are you sweetheart?" She asks
"Good, missed this big head and you guys of course, so ran over for a visit" He says, she smiles then comes to me kissing my cheek
"Thank you for coming, you are always welcomed here whenever you need a place away from your parents" Mom says to him, he nods

"Okay, now, tell us what's going on" I say, wanting to get down to business
"Mason, remember Drew? Redwood? Mate Mandy and daughter Sarah?" Dad speaks up, I nod slowly as memories of them come to mind. I haven't seen them in years, well Uncle Drew I seen a couple months ago as well as Aunt Mandy but Sarah..I can only remember us as kids. Me teasing her because she had braces and her pulling pranks on me for teasing her, good times.

"Yeah, what happened?" I ask crossing my arms, all ears
"Well, he called me this morning, he needs our help" Dad says, I lick my lips nodding
"With what?" Steve asks getting into the conversation
"Keeping Sarah safe. He didn't tell your father what is the threat but apparently she is in danger and it must be huge if he is asking for our help" Mom says, and she's right. For as long as I can remember, Uncle Drew did things his way and didn't need help from anyone that is not in his pack.

"Alright, I'm down to help" I say
"If he needs me, so am I" Steve says, my mom smiles at us as dad nods
"Good, now sit. I'm going to video call him so he can tell us in full what's going on" Dad says as he turns his laptop on, I sit and Steve sits next to me as we hear a ringing and Dad makes us visible on the screen then Drew appears on the screen

"You're on board" He says seeing me here, I nod
"You're like family, of course we will help" I say, he smiles nodding
"Thanks son" He says, I nod
"So Drew, tell us what exactly is going on" Mom says, he sighs nodding

"Well, its been going on for a while now but I thought I could handle it myself until it just got more dangerous three days ago" He says, we all nod showing him we are listening
"Sarah was out with her friends, she went to the shopping center then I get a call that there are some unannounced supernaturals on my land and a moment later another call comes in saying that something just broke out in the shopping center" He pauses taking in a deep breathe, "I immediately ran out with my men to look for Sarah and her friends, we found them in the middle of lots of fog along with a note in Sarahs hand that read, she is ours and will be where she should be..with us, I knew right then and there this is much bigger than I thought. Much bigger for just my pack to handle so I need you guys to help me as well" He says, my parents are in deep thought while Steve and I can't believe our ears

"These aren't vampires.." Mom trails off, I furrow my brows
"Who else would want to mess with a pack? With werewolves?" I ask
"This isn't just wanting to mess with a pack. They want something and that something, well someone, is Sarah. Why? I don't know but we won't let them take her to find out. We promise to help you Drew" Mom says, I nod, she always knows what to say, she's been through so much so she obviously got something out of it.

"Thank you Rose. Thank you all" Drew says
"When do you want us there?" Steve asks
"As soon as possible" Drew says
"Tomorrow night we leave, it'll give us time to tell our packs and get our things loaded up" I say, Steve nods standing

"Then, I should head back the sun is set and it's a long run. I'll see you all tomorrow in Redwood territory then" He says
"Be careful, mindlink us when you get home" Mom says, he nods hugging her, we do our handshake and he does his with my Dad then vanishes in wolf speed

"Alright, I'll see you all here then" Drew says
"See you soon" Dad says then ends the call sitting back in his chair letting out a long sigh as he runs his hand down his face, Mom goes behind him rubbing his shoulders and I just lean back as well letting all this sink in

"What do you guys think it is?" I ask, they are Queen and King of all Alphas so they know more than any of us, they know what are the other supernaturals out there while the rest of us just know there are other kinds
"The fog gives me a vibe that it's either Witches, Fairies or something else we haven't discovered yet" Mom says
"It could be anything really, and we don't know if it's just one kind or if others are working alongside them" Dad says, I nod

"Witches and Fairies" I murmur, I thought those really didn't exist
"Yes, they do exist Mason. Lots of things exist" Mom says, reading my mind somehow
"Mas, go to bed. You had a long day with training and all. Tomorrows going to be even longer" Dad says, I sigh nodding

"Alright, goodnight" I say standing up, I go over and hug my Dad then kiss my Moms cheek
"I love you baby" She says, I smile as she looks at me with that looks she's always given me since the day I can remember
"I love you too Ma" I say then walk out of the study and up to my room, once I change and my head hits the pillow, I'm out.
