Victor's POV

After the party was over, I helped clean up the house and decided to walk with Jenna to her house to drop her off. Her mother works at night, so Jenna tends to be lonely. She asked me to stay but I can't. Although I trust her with everything, I cannot relive the past. On top of the fact that I didn't want her mom to catch the wrong idea. We continue to walk and talk until we reach her door. Jenna looks up at me, showing her green pearls towards me.

"I guess this is the part when we say goodbye," Jenna says. She tucks her hair behind her ear and looks down. "I really wanted you to stay."

I sigh. "I would but I can't. We gotta take things pace by pace. Plus, I want to meet your mom first before I sleep over."

She chuckles. "You want to meet my mom before you get a chance to stay over? That's a first."

"I tend to be old school." I reply.

Jenna looks up at me and smiles. In a quick motion, she puts her hand on the back of my neck and pulls me into a kiss. Her lips were as soft as clouds coated with clear lip gloss. I ease my hands around her tiny waist and pull her closer. I kiss her back, letting her know I don't want this moment to end. We then pull away and I hold her gently, laying kisses on her forehead. I take in her sweet scent as she nuzzles into my chest.

"You're so warm." she says.

I break the hug, still holding onto her shoulders. "Are you cold?" I ask her.

She folds her arms. "A little, but I'm right near the house so I can just go ahead and get inside."

"Okay," I reply as I move my hands from her shoulders. "Be safe. I'ma look out for about an hour and go home. Let me know if you're in trouble."

She nods in affirmation and heads to open her door with her keys. I then hear James's howl. He's calling for a mandatory pack meeting. There goes my plan to have a peaceful night I guess.

"What's wrong, Vic?" Jenna asks me. She hasn't gone inside her house yet. "Is someone in trouble?"

I shake my head. "No, nothing is wrong. Just a pack meet-" I pause my sentence. I just realized that Jenna heard the howl. "You heard that?" I ask her just to be sure.

She nods softly. "It sounded like a wolf's howl and it's pretty vibrant. Was I not supposed to?"

"I mean, if you weren't that far away then that's something different." I sigh and rub my forehead. "We will figure that out later." I took a deep breath. I need to make a decision quick. I cannot leave Jenna in her house alone just in case the vamps try to come back tonight. I'm just going with my instincts. "Jenna, you have to come with me to the pack meeting."

She gives me a worried look. "I don't think that's a good idea. Plus, I believe I'll be fine here. No one has come back while you were sick."

"Although I was sick, I still watched your house from a distance," I tell her. "Just to make sure that they don't come back." I sigh. I can feel what Jen is feeling now. She is afraid that someone is going to remember that she killed Emmett. I pulled her into a hug. "It's going to be okay. My pack cannot touch you. I fate fell on you. Like Gordon told you that night, they must protect your life."

I can tell she is starting to feel slightly better. She feels more confident to tag along with me. "Okay, I'm coming."

I tell her to hop on my back and I made sure she was secure enough. I start to speed run towards James's place. I was going at a fast but decent speed, so I don't make Jenna feel sick. Seems to me that she enjoyed the ride. We arrive at James's place, and I hear the thoughts of everyone after picking up Jenna's scent. I start to second guess my instincts for the first time noticing that James is not in a happy mood.
