"Yes mother, I understand." Su Nuan said happily as she took her sewing basket back to her room.

After she left Madam Qin's smile disappeared and she looked at Su Yongshun questioningly, "It's only been a few days but Su Tang already has the money to buy materials to make clothes?"

Su Yongshun had also been surprised to hear what his little daughter had said just now. His eyes were just as confused as Madam Qin's. Even the cheapest coarse cloth in town was not actually very cheap, and if you wanted to make two sets of clothes it would cost at least twenty copper coins.

Su Tang and her brother had just started living on their own so where did they get the money? Su Nuan had just finished putting down her sewing basket and came back out, when she heard her parents' questions, she said, "Aunt Tang told me that she had been catching fish in the river. She said that now she is cooperating with a shop in town, she delivers the fish every day in exchange for the coarse cloth she needs to make clothes."

When she said that Su Yongshun and Madam Qin finally understood what was going on, and Madam Qin let out a sigh, "It seems that Tang'er can make her own living. Things will be different for those two kids in the future."

"That's good news. Su Laochuan has such good children and grandchildren in his household now. He should be able to rest in peace, ah~." Su Yongshun also thought it was a good thing.

Meanwhile, in town, Jiang He and his wife had asked for sixty fish balls and they were surprised to find that all of them were sold by noon, mainly by people who thought they were good and wanted to take some home to share with their families.

Because of that Jiang He and his wife started asking for eighty fish balls every day. And because of their special fish ball with noodle dish, their noodle stall was doing better business each day. Even the other kinds of noodles began to sell better.

Thing quickly became so stable that Su Tang didn't have to worry about them at all. She quickly settled into a routine where: Every afternoon she would go to the Qing River and pretend to fish, then after she had breakfast the next day she would waste some time for a while before heading to the town to deliver the fish balls, then she would go home to cook lunch. After lunch, she would sit with Su Nuan to chat and make clothes.

Soon five days went by and Su Tang finally completed the first two sets of clothes.

That day Su Nuo came back from playing with his friends and when he walked in the door, he saw the clothes lying on the kang bed. When he saw them his eyes lit up but then he froze. He stood in place and seemed not to dare to go over. When Su Tang saw him like that, she quickly waved him over, "What are you doing, just standing there? Come here. Quickly try it on to see if it fits."

In ancient times all clothes were made by hand but, fortunately, because they were still in their mourning period, she didn't have to bother with anything complex like embroidery. That was why Su Tang found these clothes very simple for her to make. She wanted to make Su Nuo two sets of solid-colored clothes eventually, but for today all there was was a black shirt and trousers.

When Su Nuo heard his sister calling him over he walked over slow and put his small hand on the newly made clothes. Then he asked with a look of disbelief. "Are these really for me? I really have new clothes to wear?"

Su Tang nodded and told him to try them on. As for herself, all she had finished today was a white blouse and a gray skirt, made from very ordinary coarse cloth, with no decoration at all. The outfit looked very simple but it was also clean and brand-new.

The brother and sister pair put on their new clothes together, and then exchanged glances and smiles, Su Nuo said, "Sister, take a look."

"Our families' Xiao Nuo is really good looking." Su Tang quickly praised the little guy.

With that, their old clothes were put away. The remaining two sets of clothes Su Tang were working on would be ready in a few more days. She planned to make a gray outfit for Su Nuo, and for herself, she planned to use gray and black.

There was nothing she could do about it. They were only allowed to wear these three colors, plus they could not be decorated at all. No matter how capable Su Tang was, with those restrictions the result would always be simple at best. But, in truth, Su Tang was still pretty happy about it even if the clothes were dull because having new clothes at all was just another sign that their days were getting a little better.
