It had been little under a month since Kaz started to train Cassie. Kaz was promising that he saw great progress but she failed to see it. Her powers were still shaky and she had almost killed Kaz near a hundred times, yet that still never phased him. Everyday, 5 o'clock sharp they met, after both of their shifts, and they trained for hours. If it wasn't for Kaz' busy home his parents would have been worried sick.

Today was like every other, Cassie was at work along with kaz and Oliver. She had stop diverting her timetables, making her cross paths with them a lot more often. Kaz looked at his phone and groaned, "Stephanie just text me; i will never, ever, ever go out with you. I didn't even ask her out she just wanted to remind me."

"Wow, that Stephanie sounds like a real treat." Cassie scoffed, she understood that Kaz wasn't the most conventional guy. But there was no denying he had his perks, like his devilish grin when he has an idea, or his way to always find a solution to a problem even if his solution is idiotic it always seemed to work , or the way - no stop it Cassie, you can't open up like this - she reminded herself, those feelings will only lead to heart break and pain for her and for everyone that was close to Kaz. However, deep inside her (in a part that she never wanted to open) she knew that one of the only reasons she agreed to train was to spend more time with him.

Olivers phone buzzed in his pocket, he took it out and read the messaged aloud, it was similar to the one Kaz received moment's before but instead of 'you' it still read Kaz. Oliver showed the message to him, making Kaz roll his eyes. "I wish i could find a pretty girl who knows that i work at mighty med, so she knows how cool i am." Kaz explained.

"Pretty low bar there Kaz, but you know you can't tell any Normo that you work here otherwise you'd get cubed." Cassie responded, part of her was hinting to the fact that he needed someone a bit more powerful. Her hopes that he would catch on and let her know his thoughts were soon destroyed by a loud, young, pretty superhero

"I told you I'm fine!" She yelled, standing up it was clear she wasn't, there was at least three knives lodged into her back.

"It's spark! The girl who was born with superpowers after her mom, an astronaut who was pregnant, was hit with gamma rays whilst orbiting Mars."

"Why couldn't my mom be exposed to gamma rays when she was pregnant? She wouldn't even eat sushi. Thanks for nothing mom."

Cassie smirked at Oliver, it never ceased to amaze her how these two humans longed for any sort of power they could get, they idolised superheroes, even after all the bloodshed they had seen. Crazy. She glimpsed at Kaz and saw his face. He was mesmerised at the sight of Spark, she could hear his heart beginning to contract, faster and faster - lub dub lub dub lub dub. Oh no, she knew what was going to happen and she really wanted to resist it, but how could she?? Cassie knew better than to step in the middle, Cassie knew better than to allow herself to feel again, Cassie knew better than to put Kaz' life in danger.

"I'm going to go ask her out." Those seven words. They stung more than she would care to admit but Cassie didn't show it.

"Good luck with that." Cassie stated, looking back at her work file, holding onto the pages desperately.

"What.. no, you've never even met her. You can't just ask out a superhero. You have to become friends first and then gradually transition yourself into something more. Trust me i know everything about being in love with a superhero."

Kaz dismissed Oliver's advice and went for it. It worked. Oliver turned to Cassie in disbelief, "oh c'mon, which method would you have preferred, friends or asking?."

"Sorry, can't say. That question only works in the context of being a superhero." Cassie said, though she knew her answer, it was friends first. But it would only ever be friends.
