Four Seasons Resort Hualalai

Two hundred fifty-nine thousand and two hundred seconds. Four thousand three hundred and twenty minutes. Seventy-two hours. Three whole days.

No calls. No texts. No physical touch. Not a lick of acknowledgement whatsoeva. I was left a hot mess without her care in the world.

We kept our distance and the only time words were exchanged was when involving Braislyn. Other than that, I got paid dust despite my apologies.

Our animosity was kept under the radar, not everyone knew we were at odds. I mean Ma and Lauren suspected it but remained mute at times.

Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner. Outings. We might've sat next to each other but never spoke. By nighttime, I'm back sleeping on the couch.

Barely slept.

Barely eaten.

I was so disheartened.

"What you doing up early?"

"What you doing up early?"

Shawn flopped down at the end of the couch and I lifted up some placing my book on the nightstand.I rubbed my face and shrugged.

"Not tired. I guess."

"Mmph. At three in the morning?"

I chuckled. "I could say same about you."

"I'm always up early."

"Since when nigga?"

"Dave's death." He answered while reaching in the jar for butterscotch candies. "I don't sleep often so I usually come out here. Sit. Y'know."

"Hmph. If the annoying bastard was here, we'll be wet up from going sleep too early. I'm talking being soaked with water and baking soda."

"That nigga clowned all day." Shawn cackled.

"Fasho. Him and Chris."

"Nah Chris just strictly a dumbass. I wouldn't be so surprised to know he got held back at least twice in school." He went on.

I slapped his arm repeatedly, laughing hysterically at his dumb roasts. Soon after the room became quiet once again.

"Aw man."

"So what's really going on?"

"With what man? I-I'm good."
