"Mahi," Veer called out.

"Mahi, wake up," Veer shook her gently. Mahi nuzzled her face further into the duvet and went back to sleep.

"Mahii," Veer persisted, shaking her again.

" Kya hua apko, raat ko bhi nhi sone Diya or abhi subha subha bhi pareshan kar rhe ho?" she asked in a sleepy voice, finally waking up and sitting on the bed. She glanced around and realized she was already in their room. She knew Veer must have done this.

(What's the matter? You didn't let me sleep last night, and now you're disturbing me early in the morning?)

"Tumhe yaad nahi? I've told you I want my coffee early in the morning, every day," he reminded her.

(Don't you remember?)

"Yaad hai, or yeh bhi yaad hai ke aapko meri hanth ki coffee pasand nahi aayi thi. Maine kunj uncle ko bol Diya hai wo apki coffee laate hi honge. Main sone ja rhi hun. good night" she said, lying back down. But before she could cover herself with the duvet, Veer made her sit up again.

(I remember, and I also remember that you didn't like the coffee I made for you. I've told Kunj uncle to bring your coffee from now on. I'm going back to sleep. Good night)

"Pasand nhi aayi thi kyu ki achhi nhi bani thi and being your husband, this is my duty ke jab tum achhi coffee nahi bnana seekh jao tab tak tumse banwate rahun" he stated.

(I didn't like it because it wasn't good, and as your husband, it's my duty to keep making you coffee until you learn how to make a good one)

"to wo experiments main shaam ko kar lungi apne upar. Aap mere pati hain apko main aapko apne haant ki gandi coffee to nahi pila sakti na. To abhi me so jati hun. Bye." she tried once again to cover herself with the duvet, but Veer snatched it away.

(Well, I'll do those experiments on myself in the evening. You're my husband, and I can't serve you my terrible coffee. So now, I'm going to sleep. Bye)

"Veer chhodiye kya kar rhe hain?" She tried to pull it to her side.

(Veer, leave it. what are you doing?)

"Nahi chhodunga warna tum fir se so jaogi," he snatched it back"

(I won't let you cover yourself, or else you'll fall asleep again)

"Or kyu nahi so sakti me dobara ?" she asked, still struggling with the duvet.

(And Why can't I sleep again?)

"Kyuki.. kyuki main jaag raha hun" Mahi scrunched her face at his response.

(Because... because I'm awake,")

"To aap bhi so jao. Aapko kisi ne roka thodi na hai," she retorted.

(Well, you can go back to sleep too. No one's stopping you)

"No."

"Veer!!"

"Mahi!!"

"Veer aap-" she stopped in the middle of her sentence when her gaze fell upon the door. Veer followed her gaze and saw his mother standing there, watching them fight.

(Veer, you...)

"Maa dekhiye na-" veer initiated only to get cut off by mahi.

(Maa, look-)

"Maa, main inko kab se bol rhi hun ke main inke liye coffee bna deti hun but ye bol rhe Hain ke kunj uncle bana denge, samjhaiye na inko" she immediately spoke.

(Mom, I've been telling him that I'll make coffee for him, but he keeps saying that Kunj uncle will make it. Please make him understand)

"Main lati hun coffe bana kar" and she quickly ran out of the room.

(I'll go, bring coffee)

Veer was left in shock, listening to Mahi's words.

The day started and ended without them realizing it, as everyone was busy with their respective work.

It was dinner time, and everyone was gathered around the dinner table except for Veer. He hadn't come home yet.

"Mahi, aap baith kyu nahi rahin?" Vasundhara asked, noticing Mahi standing near the dinner table but not joining them.

(Mahi, why aren't you sitting?)

"Arey badi maa, bhai ke Bina bhabhi sa kaise khana khayengi" Karnik teased, causing Mahi to look down, trying to hide her face.

(Oh, Badi Maa, how can bhabhi eat without her husband?)

" Veer ko Aaj office me kuch important kaam hai. Aap unka wait mat kariye wo late ho jayenge" Vasundhara informed everyone.

( Veer has some important work in office, so don't wait for him he would be late)

"Nahi maa, actually mujhe abhi bhook nahi hai to main thodi der mein ka lungi" Mahi tried to explain.

(No, Maa, actually, I'm not hungry yet. I'll eat later)

"Jaisa aapko theek Lage," her mother-in-law said understandingly

(Whatever you think is best)

Everyone had their dinner and proceeded to their respective rooms, but Mahi still sat in the living room, waiting for her husband.

At 11:30 PM, an exhausted Veer entered the house, craving nothing but a good sleep. But before he could go to his room, he noticed Mahi sleeping on one of the armchairs in the living room.

He approached her softly, saying, "Mahi?" It was enough to wake her from her fitful sleep.

"Aap aa gye? Ap change kar lijiye, main Kahan laga deti hun" she said, heading to the kitchen, while Veer was amazed to see her waiting for him.

(You're here? Go change, I'll set up everything)

After freshening up and changing his clothes, Veer descended the stairs. He saw Mahi sitting at the dinner table with two plates of food, indicating that she hadn't eaten either.

"Tumne mere intezaar me khana bhi nahi khaya, how come I became so lucky?" Veer said dramatically.

(You didn't eat your dinner while waiting for me. How did I become so lucky?)

"Ek pativrata patni apne pati ko chhod kar kaise khana kha skti hai veer ji," Mahi joined in.

(An obedient wife cannot eat without her husband, Veer Ji)

"Is it coming from the same pativrata patni jisne subha apne pati ke liye ek cup coffee bnane se bhi mna kar Diya tha?" he raised an eyebrow.

(Is this coming from the same obedient wife who refused to make a cup of coffee for her husband in the morning?)

"Haan, kyu ki uska pehla pyaar neend hai," she proudly replied.

(Yes, because her first love is sleep)

"Aur dusra..?"Veer asked, bringing his face closer to hers. She remained quiet.

(And the second..?)
