"I still don't understand why you didn't ask your mom to pick us up" Wednesday said walking beside me as she kicked a rock

The sound of crickets chirping filled or ears.

"She's too busy with the house right now" I said as I saw my house come into view

"Is your dad home?" She asked quietly

"No he's out of town for his job" I said looking down at her

"What does he do?" She asked looking up at me

"He's a lawyer."

She nodded staying silent. She seemed to be thinking about something.

Soon the pathway up to my house was in front of us. We walked up slowly. She still had not said a word. When we reached the front door, I spoke, breaking the silence between us.

"By the way, if my brothers ask you any questions, you can ignore them" I said as I unlocked the front door letting her in.

She nodded in response. I could see the tension in her body as she stepped inside. I followed her, closing the door behind us.

"Enid is that you?" Her mom shouted peeking out from the hallway as she closed the door.

"Mom this is Wednesday she's the one staying the night" I said with a smile as my mom walked over to us

"You didn't say she was blonde" Wednesday said quietly looking over at me with a smirk

I pinched her on the arm instantly wiping that smirk off her face

"My bad" she mumbled rolling her eyes

"Hello Wednesday, I'm Esther. Go ahead and make yourself at home. I hope you don't mind sharing a bed with Enid tonight" my mom said pulling her into a hug

I watched as Wednesday hugged her back relaxing into the touch.

"I don't mind sharing a bed with Enid. Thank you for letting me stay especially at such short notice." Wednesday said as they pulled away

"Mmm you smell amazing. What perfume do you use?" My mom asked with a warm smile

"Bye mom, come on Wednesday let's go" I said grabbing her arm and dragging her over to the stairs.

"I'll tell you once I have the chance" Wednesday said looking back at my mom with a ghost smile planted on her lips.

I quickly dragged her up the stairs ignoring my mom yelling at me for interrupting their conversation.

"Why are you so mean to your mom? She just wants to talk to you?" Wednesday asked as we entered the room.

"I talk to her 24/7 it's like I'm the only one in this house," I replied, setting my bag down

"That's probably just her way of showing affection" she said setting her bag down and lying down on the floor.

"You know you can sit on my bed right?" I said sitting at my desk

"Yeah but the floor is so much more comfortable" she said with a sigh. She got up and made herself comfortable on the floor, while I stayed at my desk. We talked for a while, and then settled into a comfortable silence.

"So what do you want to do?" I asked spinning around in my chair

"I don't know" she sat up on her arms "Hey where are your brothers?"

"Thankfully in their room doing who knows what" I said stopping my chair from spinning

"You know what I could use right now at this moment?"
