Wednesday's POV:

"Good morning Wednesday, go ahead and take a seat in my office and I'll be right with you" Weems greeted me as I entered the room. I sighed making my way into the familiar room, taking a seat.

I'm glad Weems thought about speaking to me about whatever she has to say now because I don't think I'd be able to survive another minute in math. Like why can't X solve its own problems?

"Sorry for keeping you waiting, the reason I called you in is not because you're in trouble so you can stop with the nervous finger-snapping," she explained casually

"Oh, right, sorry" I mumbled stuffing my hands into my hoodie pocket

"You're aware of the town fair on Friday correct? Where we go and help out" She asked me

I looked at her with a puzzled look not knowing what she was referring to.

She sighed before speaking "The day were the school travels into town and hangs out for the entire day"

"Oh yeah" I nodded as I remembered "the goats seem to really like you, they're always knocking you down," I said stifling a laugh at the memory

She ignored my comment and continued to explain "I'd like you to run a booth this year"

"What? Why? What sort of punishment is this" I spoke in disbelief "At this point, I'd rather have you contact my mom"

"This isn't any sort of punishment. Me and your mother thought that this would make a great opportunity for you to take in real-life marketing experience" she explained "And this also ups your community service hours"

"I've already had a real life marketing experience, I sold wood chips under the playground for 3 years" I huffed

"That doesn't count"

"But I don't wanna help the community" I groaned "I want to go hang out with my friends"

"Enid will be performing on stage with a couple of girls from her soccer team, Bianca, Divina, and Kent are performing in the choir, Ajax will be working at the animal petting zoo and Yoko will be running the booth right beside you. The school decided that it would be better that everyone helped out this year rather than just volunteers"

"This is unpaid child labor" I huffed crossing my arms "When do we get to be set free from our peasant duties?"

She rolled her eyes at my question, "You'll be free to do what you wish as soon as the performances start"

So much for hanging out.

"Am I working at this booth on my own or...?"

"I'm glad you asked, you'll be working with one of the seniors, you know what, I'll just go ahead and call him in so you both can introduce one another," she said with a smile as she picked up the office phone, searching through her papers of classroom numbers.

I sighed sinking further into my seat as I blocked out the conversation in front of me.

Why can't the actual adults in the town do work instead of us helpless children? Like, I could care less if you could go into cardiac arrest if you stress too much, just think about how long I'll have to suffer without having my earbuds or headphones in, just so I can talk to some random civilians who are interested in what I'm selling but still won't bother to buy any of it.

I wish I was a tiny stupid child again, I miss coloring. And when school and looks weren't my main concern.

But what I miss most is when I could fall asleep smoothly and not wake up for another 13 hours.
