It was December 20th, 5 days till Christmas. So, I was putting up the rest Christmas decorations. As I was hanging up David's stocking I felt my phone buzz in my back pocket.
'Hey beautiful, please meet me at the rink at 8. XOXO David'
'Okay, see you then <3′ I replied, quickly.
"So I guess I don't need to make dinner then." I mumbled to myself as I finished hanging up Davids stocking as well as my own.
This whole spending our first Christmas together thing is kind of nerve racking. We have been together for three and a half years. Though first couple of years we spend with our own families, which meant being apart.
This year though we are doing things differently. We are going to spend the 23rd at my parents house and the 27th-31st with his parents in the Czech Republic.
Breaking myself from my thoughts, I looked to the clock, the time read 6:30. So, I finished what I was doing and got ready to meet David at the ice rink.

When I pulled up there were a bunch of cars in the parking lot. Though I didn't give it much though, there was almost always something exciting going on at the rink.
As I entered the rink I saw that almost all the lights were out. Except the one at center ice.
"Did he mean the practice rink?" I wonder out loud. As I look for any sign of David.
I don't want a lot for Christmas

Music was suddenly blasted through the rink. That was when I finally noticed that there was a note on the Plexiglas.
'Hey sweetheart meet me at center ice. I will be there soon. Love David'
"Okay then." I mumble as I walk to center ice, the note still in hand.
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need, and I
Don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I don't need to hang my stocking
There upon the fireplace
Santa Claus won't make me happy
With a toy on Christmas day
As I reach center ice there is a note that says 'look up'
When I do I see David and some of the guys dancing down the stairs. Along with some people I don't recognize.
David is wearing a Christmas hat and his jersey along with what is most likely his dark jeans. The rest of the guys are wearing something similar. Though Charlie McAvoy is wearing a weird elf costume.
The guys make there way down the stairs while the rest of the team dances out of the tunnel. Most of them off beat or off step, though it looks like they are having fun. Even the coaches are involved.
I don't want a lot for Christmas

The song stars to get quieter as David finally reaches where I am the rest of the team not far behind. David drops down to one knee and takes my left hand pulling out a ring box.
"All I want for Christmas is you, baby" David sings opening the box.
"So will you marry me? and make this the best Christmas ever and make me the happiest man in the world." David asks, looking into my eyes.
"About time." I reply with a giggle.
"Is that a?" David asks with hope in his eyes
"Yes" I reply soon after getting pulled into a hug that made me melt into him. Soon after the rest of the team joined in and it became a team hug.

"Dad did all of that?" Our 13 year old daughter asked, looking up at us.
"Yeah, he did" I reply with a smile looking over at David who pulls me into his side and kisses my head.
"Wow, that pretty cool dad." Our 16 year old son says grabbing the gift he had for his sister from under the tree. And that is why Christmas will always be my favorite holiday.
