Flashback continued

"Forced??? " I asked

"Yes I was forced... Before my marriage to him I belonged to a very poor family... My parents were in debt... We were at the verge of being homeless... Becoz of the debt... In those days my mom was a maid in his mansion... She used to cook food , wash clothes everything... Both my mom and dad were working too much to pay off  the debt... It was then when he saw me... And offered to marry me... saying that he loved me... At first I thought he really is in love with me... But as we both got married he became violent... I was very scared of him... He used to beat me every day.. Sometimes with belt, sometimes with r-rod.. He used to lock me in a dark room with a lots of c-cockroaches and rats.... I used to scream the hole night... He was v- very cruel... "She said at this point she was crying like hell..

I held her hand in mine to console her... And gave her some water... She drank it and continued..

"I was 16 when I got married to him..its almost 1 year now..." She said

"Where's your mom and dad ?? " I asked

"They are killed... " She said with much difficulty

"I- I am sorry i-i --" I was cutoff by her

"No it's not your fault he killed them... After our marriage...  When his beating got worse.. One night I tried to escape him.. And ran off to my parents.. I didn't knew that this whole time he was following me... When I reached my house... H- he killed my parents i- in front of me... And warned me against escaping... He said that he will always find me and kill me too.. " She said

I went towards her and hugged her...

"You are very brave... You are the strongest girl I have ever met preeti.. " I said and looked into her eyes..

She smiled a little but was still crying... After few minutes she was able to calm herself...

"But why did he wanted to kill you?? " I asked

"He was bored of me.. He wanted a new toy to torture... Probably you were the new toy now... " She said

I was the new toy.. I can't believe this this was just a game for them... How can someone be so cruel so heartless..
But the one thing I can't understand is why did he killed azad..?

I looked at preeti.and asked

"Why did singh killed azad when they were so close?? " I asked

"Close??" She asked surprised she even laughed a bit

"They were never close.. They can never be.. Singh was only with him bcoz he wanted his money and his property everything azad had... Singh is a very greedy man... He wanted to built a friendship with him so that azad can fully trust him and he could get access to all his money.. Actually Singh was almost successful in his job... But azad was also a clever man... Azad's trust was just for show... He knew what Singh was trying to do... So he made a video of Singh in which he was seen raping and murdering a teenage girl... Azad used it to blackmail singh... Therefore Singh was left with no choice then to kill him... Also killing azad was necessary for him bcoz only then he was accessible to his money as azad had no other relative or friends other than Singh... Initially Singh's plan was to kill azad and blame the murder on you... And use this murder to blackmail you into marrying him... So that he could continue his evil motives with you... But as you already know what actually happened... " She said

This was too much for me to digest.. I mean I can't even imagine what could have happened with me...

She held my hand and said

"Becoz of you we both are safe and Singh is in jail... T- thankyou" She said and smiled

I smiled too and continued drinking my coffee... After few more minutes of silence.. She said

"What are you going to do now..?"

Shit!! I don't know.. I mean so much happened...God.!!! now I have nothing... My apartment is sealed no job I mean i don't even have money left or saved...what am I gonna do... I closed my eyes frustrated at my situation..

I guess she understood my expression and said smiling

"Don't worry.. There is this family I know... I mean my mom used to work for them as a maid before she left it and worked for Singh... Actually they shifted from where they used to live to here... So if you want you can you know work for them.. They are very good people... " She said assuring me.

I don't know whether I should listen to her or not.. Coz I am scared now... I think trusting someone is not what I can do now.. After going through so much... But again I have no other options other than to accept this offer.. Coz I have nothing at all...

I looked at her and agreed to work for the new family..

"Who are they ??" I asked

"The kapoor's" she said

The kapoors....I hope they are good people.... Coz I don't think I can handle anymore violence now... I want my babies safe..

I sighed and looked at her...
