Katarina Night has been alive since the Salem Witch Trials in 1692. Surprise Surprise, she's a witch. Since her mother was caught and burnt alive for doing witch craft, Kat has been in the care of her aunt.

For weeks, Axel drags me out of the room to drain me away. I can feel my magic withering away to nothing. I could barely make a flower grow.
With Axel draining my power, it makes me tired. It gives me less fight. Luckily, my baby is completely fine. It's not obvious that I'm pregnant; but I can tell. Usually I would only be a few weeks, but it looked as if I was two months.
Demon pregnancies are faster.
Axel doesn't notice that I'm 'gaining' weight. He only cares for the magic in my veins. I guess this was always the plan. Take my magic, make me loose hope and power. Leaving me for dead.
The sound of the door opens, letting the light flood in. I don't make an effort to get up from where I sit. I simply move my head to the only person I've been for weeks.
"Axel, what a pleasant surprise."
"Kat, still haven't lost the attitude I see."
"Yes well," I finally get off my ass and walk towards Axel, "taking me to drain my magic some more?"
"Not this time." A smirk spreads across his face; he was enjoying this to much.
"I have a little surprise for you. Follow me." This was the first time he walked in front of me instead of behind. He takes me in a different direction then we usually take.
Instead of brown dull walls, it turned to white and gold. The gloomy dark turned to a glowing white. The whole atmosphere was a little bit lighter here.
Even if it's still hell.
"What the hell is your surprise Axel?..."
The world froze. The air disappeared. The dead became the living. The nature order of things have been tipped. The balance between life and death is forever fractured.
There they stood. Flesh, blood and bone. The fire no longer touched her skin. Their ghostly figures no longer haunted me.
My mother and my aunt.
Alive.
"W-What? What's happening?" I begin to shake; nerves of fear and sickness, you name it all began to rise.
Axel joins the sides of my mother and aunt. But there was another person. Someone I never thought I would see here with Axel. Yet it all added up in the end.
"Nick...what is going on?" If I had enough magic left in me, something would be bursting into flames by now. Or an earthquake at that.
"We're alive sweetheart. We're together again." My mother steps out of the line of traitors to grab my hands. But as her fingers touch mine, I flinch away.
Real.
She's real, not a figment of my imagination.
"Someone tell me what's going on."
"Is it not obvious Kat? I brought your family back." Axel says this with some much pride in his voice that it makes me sick.
"Now we can be together. How it was suppose to be all along." My mother says while trying to make a move to touch my hands again.
"Don't touch me..." I back away from her, repeating the phrase over and over again.
"And now that we are all together, we can finally kill Damien Blackwood." Aunt Ruby says
"What? That's why I'm here? Why all of you are here?"
"Yes. You can help us end Damien." Axel never had an intention of going to war. It was always me. I was the plan.
"Wait, why is Nick here?" I'm not stupid. Nick is obviously the mole that was inside the castle. But why would he betray Damien?
"Nick is my son." Ruby drops an atomic bomb on me. It all made sense; why he betrayed me and Damien. Why he was so calm when threats were being sent our way. Now that I actually see who he truly is, I can see the resemblance. Both of us have brown hair and brown eyes. Our family has strong genes.
"Nick is my cousin?"
"Happy to see you too cous." Nick says
"How is this possible?"
"That's on a need to know basis." Ruby says
This families secrets are coming to light. I thought it was just my parents and my aunt. Now I have a cousin. All of which are terrible people who all want to use me.
What a happy little family I have.
But how could Ruby never mention having a child? She had looked after me for centuries. Yet I never knew. The secrets this family carries.
"What do you want from me?"
"Damien has done nothing but make you suffer." My mother says
"So this is about Damien?"
"We want you to kill him." Axel says
"Why?"
"Katarina, he killed your aunt. He told the town that I was a witch. He has caused you so much pain."
Ironic. You both deserved it. Some, like my mother and aunt, might say I am brainwashed by Damien. But that is not the case. I see the truth; the truth is that I love Damien with everything in me.
Damien has done bad things. But so have I. That makes us demons. Everyone has a little monster in them.
Yet my mother and aunt have lied to me. They have kept me from who I truly am. They want me to be their perfect little witch, but that's not me.
They want me to kill my true love. No way in hell is that happening. Yet to survive this battle, I have to pretend.
Pretend to be their obedient little witch.
"You're right mother. He has caused me suffering."
"That's why we have to kill him. You have to kill him." A fake smile spreads across my face. I let my mother grab my hands.
"Yes. Damien's reign has to end."

So to sum up...
Axel brought Kat's mom and aunt Ruby back from the dead.
Nick is the mole in the castle
Nick is also Ruby's son. And Kat's cousin. (His backstory is coming)
They all want Kat to kill Damien.
Kat knows if she doesn't go along with their plan then they might hurt her (and her baby) or do something worse.
