Summary:

Review:
Should be decent for those who like fluffy romance with a bit tragic backstory. I'm not sure why the tag is scheme or psychological in novelupdates.com, so far the story is away from that tags. Reading on mtl may cause headache which 1 of the reason I stopped reading.
MC is a maid, her family was an official but her father offend his superior so the family got killed. Only MC survived since she was 4 yo. She then become palace rough servant which wash laundry in the concubine Zhao palace. Concubine Zhao is doted by the emperor. MC saved a man from fire on new year. She hope a reward but actually she offend the concubine because concubine Zhao plan to kill the man who is ML the crown prince.
MC suffered in fire and have some scars. She was called a chou which mean ugly.
Then the crown prince was abolished, sent to remote area and paralyzed. His fiancee family got demoted to 6th rank. MC was sent to ML's fiancee family as maid, the family thought MC is the concubine spy. The fiancee refused to marry ML since he was paralyzed but the family forced her. MC followed as dowry maid. The fiancee suicide midway. The guards forced MC to subtitute the fiancee.
MC then saw ML paralyzed on bed in bad state. She then began take care ML. MC seems like ML from when he was the crown prince, she thought he was handsome. Then she plan to become family with ML. ML is ashamed because he can't do anything, he slowly like MC. They plan to live as normal couple.
The story sometimes told about the emperor, empress dowager, the concubine which having power struggle. The scheme may point to that part but it is like a background story that never include MC and ML. They just tossed themselves and may gossiped ML a little.
MC and ML story is fluffy romance without conflict. While the people around them have more love problems. ML personal guard like ML former concubine who was sent to take care ML but ML refuse her. MC neighbor who is a teacher love MC. He also got admirer, the city perfect's daughter. A guard who forced MC to act as substitute, love the city perfect's daughter. Another guard also love MC.
Until 411, ML still in progress treating his legs and having romance with MC. The other characters are busy on their own.
