Summary:
While reading a novel, Fu Erdie thought more than once that if she arrived in an apocalyptic world, she could only wait for death.
The cars could not be driven, roads could not be recognized, they could not even cook food.
There was also physical strength involved…there was no need for her to encounter a zombie because with just a sudden drop of temperature, she could get a cold and fever and die from it.
As a useless person of the new century, she sincerely hoped that the whole world would be prosperous and free of disease and calamity. At the same time, she could just draw at home and earn living expenses while muddling through.
As a result, God played a joke on her.
After a shower of rain, the world changed. There were zombies and dead plants everywhere.
She looked down from a window on the 10th floor and saw the crowd panicking. The cars rammed and blocked the road, and the small noodle shop she often went to was now stained with blood… Everything pulled back Fu Erdie from her fantasy.
The world had truly changed.
Fu Erdie decided to go out to find her relatives, and she would bet on whether she would become a zombie or an alien. She gathered her courage and opened the door, then stepped back and closed it. The zombie neighbors in the corridor were horrible! It is impossible to fight zombies, you can only wait to die in a wretched manner. And any chance, there was a lot of stored food at home that she could eat for a month.
But her ending was probably one of the two choices she had in her mind, to die now or die in a month. And she chose to lay down and continue her everyday normal life. She would just wait to meet the upcoming water and electricity cuts.
On the first day, everything was the same. The next day, everything was the same. The next day after, everything was still the same. The next…
A month later, it was time to pay the utility bill. The internet got disconnected and she did not pay the bill. The rest of the building was pitch black.
But her room was still bright.
The flush toilet could be used as usual. The natural gas could be used for her luxurious bathing. The small kumquats, small peppers, and shallots planted and grown on the balcony even thrived at a rate that did not conform to the laws of nature.
Fu Erdie suddenly found out that she had not mutated, but her own house had mutated?!
Review:
I got a high hope at the beginning since based on summary it seems different from other apocalypse story, at least the house mutation part. Then I felt MC behavior abruptly change and the plot become like a summary of MC base development which is boring. I stopped reading on chapter 74.
MC live alone with a dog. She realize the world change after she took a shower. She contact her parent, bestie, grandma and uncles. Her parent is far away, out of city. Grandma and aunt move away. The uncles who are nearby left MC. MC has 2 bestie, the 1st try to take MC away with her but MC reject her since she know she can't do anything. She is bad in sport or running, can't cook etc in sum she felt she is really useless in apocalypse world. So she plan to stay at home, eating food that she stock up and died starving. At this point I don't like when MC is really pessimist but she tried to go out then got frighten so since it's consistent with her personality I still think it will be good.
Then she realize her home mutated. There's several plants also mutated. She got attacked by a power man, she killed the man but she got into coma. The house healed her and the plant eat the man's corpse. MC then began to pull zombies and let her plants eat them. She met an old lady and ML. ML was a college student, he got metal power. He was chased by metal zombie then he hide in MC community. He saved MC when MC trying to pull zombies for her plant. They gradually got close. Then ML said that actually MC is also has power but he didn't know what. Until the last chapter I read, I still not sure what's MC ability. It's too unclear. At first it indicate that MC is likeable by plants. Then her blood can nourish the plants but she can't intentionally harm herself to nourish the plan, okay a bit weird but acceptable. Later she can enter other people 'space' and push/pull their energy? She push her energy and it will make other replenish their power. She can also pull and absorb the other power.
Later MC fought a space zombie, then she entered his space which is similar to the 'space' she entered on other people to push/pull energy? It become weirder so I stopped reading it.
After MC found she got ability, I felt it abruptly change MC personality. She can kill zombies, going out then she began to become boss or has leadership skill. She can also design or plan the base development. Fyi she was an illustrator not architect or interior design.
