Review:
At first I enjoyed reading this novel, I expect a fluffy romance without much conflict. It is a fluffy romance but overtime, I began to dislike MC and ML.
ML was unfavored prince. He is from 1st queen, his mother family help his father become emperor. His father dislike ML mother because everyone said without her family, the emperor won't be able to ascend. So the emperor ask Shen family to frame 1st queen family. ML mother family are exiled and beheaded. ML aunt was saved by Shen head family who is current empress brother. He took her as concubine, fake her identity. He isolate her in the residence for 20 years. They gave birth to a son, he switch the legitimate son from his wife with ML aunt son. His own legitimate son then died. No one else knew that they switch the son.
ML went to Xi'an and met MC. MC grandfather is a general. MC father is from 1st wife. The other son and daughter are from 2nd wife. I'm not sure about the 2nd daughter, she seems to hate the 2nd wife.
MC father was decided as heir. MC has 2 older sisters. 1st sister like martial arts and join her father in battle. 2nd sister like business and follow MC mother family. Only MC is a delicate lady.
ML met MC several times. They got closer. MC thought ML like her but then he become cold. ML fake his identity as merchant. Then they separate for some times. MC went back to Beijing. Soon her father and 1st sister had accident on a ship. Which is planned by 2nd wife. The others know it even if there's no proof. Then a soldier who like 1st sister went back and told the truth. MC grandfather become cold to his 2nd wife but he still protect her. MC and family got disappointed and went back to Xi'an.
ML want to propose MC after MC father got back. He plan to marry her with the fake identity. But then there's war and he need to leave. They met again in Beijing. Then ML told MC that he is the unfavored prince. MC got angry and leave him. ML beg her. He said he can't marry her since the emperor hate him. He can only took her as concubine first. MC refuse him. There's a lot saying ML disrespect MC family etc. But in the end MC agreed as ML concubine in order to be with ML. This changes is only a few chapters. And she also got fooled again by ML. ML said he'll let her go since she doesn't want to be his concubine, he said she need to marry early because there's a draft for 2nd prince. MC then hastily got engage to a noble son who like MC. From the story, I felt the noble son is like a child liking a toy. Then ML robbed MC forcefully and make her as his concubine. In front of other, MC and her family act as if they're forced by ML. MC 2nd sister married Shen young master aka the switched son aka ML cousin in order to help MC. The Shen young master is known as empress family, so it just as proof that MC family dislike ML and join the empress.
Then ML scheme and make the emperor got stroke, empress beheaded, 2nd prince crippled, 3rd prince exiled or become commoner. His own cousin aka 2nd sister husband become commoner. Then MC become empress. All of this is within 2-3 chapters. I wonder why ML didn't directly rebel, took the throne then marry MC as his empress. I think it will be faster than acting and make MC back and forth crying, missing him.
MC ex-fiancee just accept it after he got dumped. He was a lazy bum, then after got dumped, he realize he need to start learning.
