Approaching your house, you noticed green and brown leaves dancing in the cold Colorado wind.

A smile graced your lips subconsciously as you monitored each step you took, mindful not to slip on the icy ground.

Having Kyle back was what you truly wanted, even if it meant suppressing your feelings in favour of that. That was just a compromise you were going to have to accept.

Suddenly, a distant shout of your name reached your ears, causing you to almost slip on the unforgiving concrete. You could recognise that voice anywhere.

Upon steadying yourself, you turned around only to catch sight of a familiar ushanka. One that particularly made your pulse speed up.

It was Kyle. Why was he here? What was he doing? Did he forget something?

"Shit. Are you okay?" He asked once in earshot. Worry was written all across his face as he rushed closer.

You couldn't help but let out a laugh, feeling embarrassed that he'd witnessed that. "Uh, yeah."

"Good. Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, I just..." He trailed off, wondering how to word his next sentence. Your intense gaze only made it more challenging. Kyle could never think straight when you looked at him like that.

"Hi." He said blankly.

"You just ...Hi?" You repeated, a smile itching to form on your face. This guys quirkiness was something else.

"Sorry, I just realised I didn't say hi yet..." He mumbled.

You just blinked. Usually, Kyle was the embodiment of precision. Even when angry, he seemed to know every word he was going to say before he said it.

So this weird stuttering thing he was doing was actually kind of refreshing. It didn't ease your worry that something might be wrong, though. It actually emphasised it.

"So, hi. Um, anyways," Kyle knew he couldn't prolong this anymore. "I just wanted to walk you home."

Your heart squeezed at the subtle reminder of why you had a crush on the boy before you. Had he seriously come all this way for that?

You broke out into a full smile, unable to hide it now. "I get it. South Park equals creeps."

"Exactly." He laughed, trying to conceal how nervous he really was. You just spun on your heel and motioned for him to follow you in the direction of your home.

Kyle was well aware that there was no turning back now. He had to do this.

The journey to your house was quiet, otherwise accompanied with gentle sounds of the wind.

You loved being around Kyle, and you couldn't help but appreciate his spontaneous offer to walk you home.

But you also thought that included him talking to you. Or something. Honestly, it felt like he'd been unusually quiet the whole day.
