Roots

I am the roots that climb up your spine

Sinking within the cracks of your bones

Tracing the lines of your pale pink skin

Slithering like snakes until I consume you whole.

You are paralyzed like a frightened bird

Waiting for the dark to pass by very soon

Without knowing what stalks behind

A predator as hungry as a starving lion.
