Mumbai, India

The night had passed away without any further chaos which left all the members at the Tyagi house at ease. Soon the morning came, bright with the white clouds covering the clear sky, indicating the onset of spring. The bright day brought new dreams, new resolutions and new hope.

Akanksha wasn't in the bad mood anymore.

Not at least after the little chat she had with Vihaan.

Vihaan was able to soothe her bruised heart. It wasn't healed, of course, and maybe it would take years to get over it but the accusation didn't prick her anymore. She knew she did nothing wrong. But the fact that came out from her mother's mouth and she could even think something like that about her own daughter did not settle well with her.

But today, she woke up with a different light. She buried her pains that her mother gave as brooding over it wouldn't make things easier. And, she wouldn't undervalue herself for that pain.

She was making coffee in the kitchen when Anika approached her. Akanksha could see her reflection through the marble counter of the kitchen. She wordlessly turned around and engulfed her elder sister in her arm. Anika eased at her touch and leaned into her, wrapping her arms tightly around her frame.

"I am sorry Di." She breathed, nuzzling her face in her hair.

Anika frowned. "Why?"

"For forcing you to be good with Maa and Papa. To try mending your relationship with them. They aren't worthy of our love, Di. You can't be parents just by raising your children and give them monetary support. You become parents when you love and protect them, embrace their imperfections and teach them to be independent and strong. Sure they were the ideal parents when we were younger but now, they don't deserve to hold the title." She said.

Anika's eyes closed in satisfaction. She knew her sister was naïve and always took time to understand things until she wasn't kicked in the shins or pushed off the edge so that she could learn a hard lesson. What happened yesterday scared her. Akanksha was having a good life when their parents weren't in the picture. After what happened last night she was scared that Akanksha's emotional stability would be ruined.
