Elizabeth's POV Charlie was watching a baseball game on T.V. as the door suddenly opens to reveal Edward, Bella and I.
I approached Charlie first and say "Esme invited us to a girls' spa retreat in California. We accepted" Charlie nods startled and says "Uhh...okay? When are you going to get back?" I pass him a paper with Esme's contact information "Friday night. It's Spring break so schools not a problem" Bella and I retreat upstairs to pack go bags leaving Edward alone to speak with Charlie.
We finished and when we reach the ground floor with Charlie on my heels. We're almost to the door but Charlie blocks me "Elizabeth, Bells, I know I'm not around much, but I can change that. We can do more things together. You don't have to fill up your free time with other people. I want to be a better father to you girls.... I know that I haven't been in the past, but I want to change that" Bella takes a deep breath and rolls her eyes before saying something that stunned me "Like watch more baseball on the flat screen? Or go to the Coffee Shop? Same people, same steak, same berry cobbler every night? That's you, Charlie. Not me!"
This hits Charlie hard.Edward and I glare at her angrily as the whole point of this was to spare his feelings. He takes a second to recover befe he says in a broken voice "Bella... I just got you girls back" Which breaks my heart as she delivers the final blow "And if I don't get out now, I'm going get stuck here like mom did" Charlie is stunned, wounded. She takes advantage of his shock, pushing past him out the door.
