the stranger boy has a name

i convinced him that i knew where i was
planning to go to pass the time
and after some consideration
i have a boy pacing behind me
like a lost puppy

he doesn't question much about
where we're going
and the fact that he didn't mention anything
about that awkward kiss
arose my suspicions
but i'd rather not bring it up
it'd be too embarassing

i'm just hoping it's because
he doesn't recognise me

i realise that i still don't know his name
and he doesn't know mine either
so we decide on calling each other
by codenames for now
since we're not too keen on revealing too much
maybe he has his reasons, i have mine too

he settles down with the name "guk"

i have a minor conflict choosing mine
but after glancing at me up and down
the boy's eyesmiles appear again

"pinky" he says

and i furrow my eyebrows
"pinky? why pinky?"

he hums
eyes trailing down my figure and back up
he crosses his arms, tips his chin up slightly,
and says, "it suits you"

i look down at the pink sweater i'm
wearing under my coat
finally getting his point
"ahh pinky"

i hear him chuckle
and god help me
he sounds like the happiest child in the world

the streets of suwon are quiet
everyone is probably asleep at home
i can only hear the scraping of our feet
as we walk through the empty streets

i remember my list
thinking that this can be a good time
to check some off

i recall back to what i'd written
#2 sneak somewhere without paying
this is going to be risky

there's an old cinema not far from us
like i said, i'm good with my research

with much reluctance
i take his arm and pull him along with me
he tosses me a confused glance

"a cinema?"
he blinks

i smile sheepishly
putting a finger up to my lips in a quiet hush
"follow my lead, stranger boy"
