i have decided to do chapters of before they had their kids (so a pre-epilogue - pe' 🤡), to satisfy not just me, but others. it'll be only ten chapters, then after...a competition for their- jk. maybe. enjoy~

three years ago...

"I am now King...with you."

I stood before Maximus, his eyes soft upon me. I was now officially...coronated in to be King with him. So I'm not just his Mate, or his husband anymore, I'm officially King with him.

He is still the Head Alpha, and since I am not one I wouldn't dream of sharing that title with him. Maximus has impressed me the more I have been around him and never did I think I'd get this far. I just thought we'd be married and that was that.

I'm aware of...how hard it has been for him though. Having to constantly try and mate with me...the failed attempts. Us trying to have kids?

I've been too scared to truly try. We haven't even had sex yet because I feel like if we do it...I am aware he probably won't use protection - and that's fine! I'm just worried I'll hyper fixate on the what ifs. On if that night or the other night...is the night I need to watch out for.

I am aware of how easy it could've been for him if I was simply an Omega or even an Alpha. I'm the worst out of the crop.

But if he says...me being a Beta is okay, then so be it. I still can't help but feel bad.

"You are the first Beta to be coronated in. That will forever be on the history books." Maximus helps remove the heavy crown from atop of my head. "I am honored to be a part of such a wonderful experience."

"You say that as if you weren't coronated or made Head Alpha already." I chuckle shyly as he waved that off like it's nothing.

"In comparison to yours, yours tops it, besides," Maximus took my hand as we began to go down the isle, people clapping and bowing towards us, "our wedding is what topped it the most. Out of all of the events I had in my life, as of now, our wedding is number one."

I smile at him, my smile slowly fading once we are out of public view. What he said was true, but...

Usually people would say their wedding night, right? We had one, I guess? Personally, I wouldn't call it one because don't you have sex that night? I feel bad because I know he wanted to and I did too!

But...he never asked me and I get the feeling he didn't because of what I aforementioned.

"There's so much more we could do." I stop walking, seeing him stop too as he turned to face me fully.

"Like what? I am open to anything you want to do."

"No, what do you want?" I found myself asking more forcefully.

Maximus didn't seem to care though as he thought a little bit on it. His hand gripping his chin, only for his eyes to flicker back onto me. A smile came to his lips and I wondered if he'd say what I think he'd say.

"You know...there is something I want to do with you." He starts, and I feel my face become warm. "I have changed up the flower garden some, I would love to go on a stroll with you back there. It's like a maze out there!"

That was not what I was expecting.

"You want...to go on a stroll with me? You want nothing else?"

"Not at the moment, no." Maximus chuckles, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. "Beau...don't overthink. I'm okay right now, and I was okay before. You don't need to stress about anything. You're okay, whatever happens, happens."
