The alarm blared loudly, pulling me from my dreams of being with my grandmothers. I slowly peeled my eyes open only to cross them. The small troll was still snuggled into my nose and I couldn't help but smile at how absolutely precious this small creature was.

But my thoughts of his adorableness were cut short by Crimp knocking on the door.

"Um Mister Veneer, do you want coffee?" Her shaking voice reminded me how I sound after dealing with Velvet,

Judging based on that Vel's probably already up eating pancakes that she'll throw at Crimp anyway. I didn't want to stop snuggling the small troll who smelt of red berries, night-blooming jasmine and plum, but I had to get up.

I tried to pull the little guy away from me but he groaned trying to pull me back with his tiny deep blue hands,

"Noooooo, you smell like cucumber melon and you're warm." He tried to sleepily follow me but I was larger and faster and was already at my vanity. I realized I haven't answered Crimp,

"Yes Crimp, can you make sure it's iced, sweet and light with three pumps of brown sugar syrup." I preferred iced coffee sometimes I'll drink it hot. It honestly depends on how busy I am because I only drink it hot when I have the time to sit down and fully enjoy it and the calming warmth of the ground up beans.

I opened the top drawer of my vanity to grab my eyeliner, eyeshadow, eyeshadow gloss and harlequin green lipstick. I placed them all down and then grabbed my hairspray only to put it to the side of me because I like to put on my makeup beforehand .

As I took my eyeshadow brush and dipped it into the cyan glittery eyeshadow I felt something thump to my right and I glanced down to see that the troll had followed me, he was rubbing his eyes smudging his eyeliner all over his face.

"Good morning, how did you sleep?" I took the fluffy end of my brush and started to apply the shimmery powder to my eyelids.

"I slept pretty well actually, I um what are you doing?" I turned my head only a fraction to start putting eyeshadow on my left eye,

"Putting on my makeup and before you ask, Vel doesn't make me wear it, she only asked that I wear green lipstick." He hummed at my words but It was true, Velvet didn't really care whether or not I wore it. So this was the one choice I had.

I adore makeup it's like art and fashion at the same time but for your face. You can see how makeup can change a look and make it clash or blend in which is so fascinating to me and I love how my face is a canvas for my creative liberties.

"Well I think you're pretty with it and without it." I felt my wrist stop patting the eyeshadow onto my lid at his sweet words.

"You don't have to flatter me, I'm already getting you out of here." I opened the gloss and smeared the jelly on an unused makeup brush as to not ruin the applicator. As I used my left hand to apply the gloss, I noticed how both his hands were holding my opposing hands pinky finger and he picked it up and laid a kiss upon it, my finger nail now burning from his gentle kiss,

"I'm serious bubblegum." I snorted and he looked nervous.

"Bubblegum?" I rose a snarky eyebrow and smiled at how nervous he was,

"Well it's just your lips are kinda a really pale pink and you're really sweet-"

"So you've been looking at my lips huh." I cooed at him and smirked while his nose and cheeks were covered in an inky blue.

"I mean- uh I....nevermind it was dumb" he chuckles nervously while his face turns a deep eggplant colored indigo mine was probably just as bad as his, my face felt hot to the touch. He was embarrassed how I caught him.

"Aww don't worry I think it's cute gumdrop." I pressed the tip of my manicured gently on his nose. After all might as well return the favor especially since he's so small and cute like a gumdrop plus his skin glitters like he was covered in sugar much like a gumdrop.

"Uh Mister Veneer Velvet is-" Crimps voice interrupted us again but was interrupted by,

"WHERE'S MY BROTHER CRIMP?!" My sister's shrill voice rung out and I knew I had to hurry, I scampered around my vanity quickly styling my hair and putting my lipstick on. I stood and went to the closet shuffling my clothes around looking for an outfit,

"Can I come with? I don't want you to be left alone with her." His concern warmed me down to my bones and I was tempted, and maybe I need a voice of reason guiding me.

"Alright but you have to hide in my pockets okay?" Floyd nodded his head of magenta and white hair.

I quickly put on a pair of holographic shorts and a white crop top. We're only going over what we're doing for our concert, so there was no need to match her especially with that ugly gold costume.

As I slipped on my pearl colored knee high stiletto boots Floyd was able to wiggle himself into my front pocket, I could only hope that Velvet didn't notice him, but anything could happen.

I opened the door and was met with Crimps wrinkled form, her glasses were crooked and I did feel a touch bad about how disheveled she appeared.

"Oh good you're ready, lets go, I made blueberry pancakes and coffee." I could feel my heart dropping as we approached my sister, my guts twisting around in knots as Crimp was blabbing on about how she feel like we could be more independent and how excited to listen to the new song I wrote.

With a couple more inches we reached the dining area. I saw how ragged my sister appeared, it looked like she hasn't slept, her hair stuck up and looked as if she were tossing and turning all night, makeup completely smudged, she hadn't even changed out of her pajamas and her face soured upon seeing me again,

I stood by the counter and slowly slid the plate of blueberry pancakes off of it. I almost felt like a deer in headlights as her ocean blue eyes pinned themselves to me.

"Do you have any idea about what the fuck we're going to do?" Her voice was flat and the volume was almost at a whisper. I knew she was on the edge of losing her temper, I had to be cautious about what I said she's a hairs width away from flipping the table and taking all her unfiltered rage out on Crimp and myself.

"I can try to find another troll, I mean they can't be that hard to find." My voice wavered and she took a deep breath in before she slammed her fist into the table, scaring both me and our assistant.

"You better get it fast, after all do you want to be like our loser parents?" I flinched at that, especially since our mom and dad were just above average middle class, they weren't losers, they went to school and made sure that they had solid groundwork for raising us. I may have blended into the background to them but I've always admired how much they put into the two of us.

Crimp looked as if she were about to cry and I had to come up with something fast as Vel's eye twitched with unbridled rage. I might have to get the little guy out of here along with myself and Crimp faster than expected.

"Vel, I know that you deserve to be famous but shouldn't you you know practice? Maybe with the right training you can be really-" I saw how she picked up her coffee mug and with an eye twitch threw it towards Crimp.

I moved quick enough to catch the mug before it come into contact with the small being. I looked to crimp to see her holding her thin noodle like arms to shield herself.

I caught her gaze which was glossy with tear, I mouthed the word 'go' at her and she shook her head. I could hear velvet leave the room and I turned towards Crimp,

"Go in the closet, just until Velvet chills out." She nodded and booked it towards the storage room, at least she could hide from Vel forever if she wanted especially since Velvet could hire a new assistant, I couldn't.

My hand found itself in my front pocket, instantly feeling Floyd hug it with his whole body. I couldn't help it but my eyes stung with tears and my throat felt as if it was stuffed with hot cotton.

I may have burned my bridges but At least I have my gumdrop with me.
