Why is she so important to me? Am I really in love with her?

I stormed out of the room, searching for Hala. As soon as I saw her standing in the hallway, I couldn't hold my anger in any longer. "Oh Salar, you're here. I was looking for you," Hala said with a fake smile.

"I'm not here to play games, Hala. I want to know why you did that," I said, my voice laced with anger.

"What are you talking about, Salar?" Hala played dumb, pretending she didn't know anything.

"Don't act innocent with me, Hala. You know exactly what I mean," I replied, trying to control my rising temper.

"Why did you tell Ehmel that I was looking for her in the old basement? You know I never said that," I said, my voice getting louder.

"Look, Salar, I don't understand what you're talking about," Hala replied calmly, trying to maintain her façade.

"Don't play games with me, Hala. You put Ehmel in danger and I want to know why," I said, my voice laced with concern for Ehmel's safety.

"Because you're always around her, Salar! Ever since we were kids, I've wanted to talk to you, to be there for you. But you never gave me a chance. But with Ehmel, it's different. She just came into your life, and suddenly she has all the rights. You're in love with her, and I can't bear it, Salar. You're mine, and that Ehmel is ruining my life. That's why I want to ruin her life," Hala said, her voice becoming aggressive.

I was shocked by her words. I couldn't believe that she would do something so cruel just because she was jealous of Ehmel. I was starting to see a side of Hala that I had never seen before.

"Are you crazy, Hala?" I shouted. "Why are you bringing Ehmel into this? She has nothing to do with this. And how can you simply say that you want to ruin her life? This is not a movie, Hala. This is real life. So please, stop being crazy," I said, I said, my voice still filled with anger.

Hala didn't seem to care about what she had done. She was only focused on her own jealousy and hatred towards Ehmel.

As I turned to walk away, I couldn't help but look back at Hala. "And Hala, stop comparing yourself to Ehmel. You can never be like her," I said before walking away from her. leaving Hala alone with her thoughts.

I couldn't believe that Hala, my cousin and someone I once considered a sister, would stoop so low as to try to harm someone else's life out of jealousy. I was disappointed and angry, but most of all, I was hurt. I couldn't imagine how Ehmel must have felt when she found out that Hala had intentionally put her in danger.

As I walked back to my room, I saw Ehmel sound asleep on my bed. Mrs. Tazmeer, was sitting next to her.

"Mrs. Tazmeer, you should go back. I'll take care of Ehmel," I nervously blurted out, not wanting to disturb her sleep.

But to my surprise, Mrs. Tazmeer replied, "No beta, I can stay here. I don't mind."

"Please, Mrs. Tazmeer, it's okay. You can go. I'll take care of her," I repeated, hoping she would understand.

"Okay, beta, I'm going, but before I leave, I want to say one thing. Ehmel is a special girl, Salar. I can see the way you look at her. Just promise me you won't break her heart," she said, while tapping on my shoulder.

I nodded, trying to hide my nervousness, and as soon as she left, I sat next to Ehmel while creasing her head. I remembered what Hala had told me earlier. She had noticed how much I cared for Ehmel and had even pointed out that I might have feelings for her.

"Why am I so scared about Ehmel? Why is she so important to me? Am I really in love with her?" I questioned myself as I gazed at her sleeping face. She looked so peaceful, like a princess, and I couldn't help but feel drawn towards her.

Ehmel slowly opened her eyes and I quickly looked away, not wanting her to know I had been watching her. I went to sit in the chair next to her bed, trying to compose myself.

"How are you feeling, Ehmel?" I asked, trying to sound casual.

"I'm fine, Salar. Thanks to you," she replied with a smile.

I couldn't help but smile back. It felt good to know that she trusted me and was grateful for my help. As we sat there in silence, she suddenly took my hand in hers and looked into my eyes.

"Why are you always there for me, Salar?" she asked, her words filled with gratitude and confusion.

I couldn't help but smile at her question. "God sent me to help you, because you can't take care of yourself," I teased.

Ehmel's face fell a bit, and I immediately regretted my words. "I'm sorry, Ehmel. I didn't mean it like that. I just...I don't want anything bad to happen to you," I said, my voice filled with concern.

She smiled again, her hand tightening around mine. "Okay, Salar. I have to go now. Ammi will be worried about me," she said, trying to get up from the bed.

I gently pushed her back down. "Hey, hey. Don't worry about her. I already told her you're with me. Stay here for a little while longer," I said, not wanting to let her go.

"But it's been a few hours already. People might start talking about me being in your room, Salar," she said, her cheeks flushing a light pink.

"Let them think what they want. Don't worry about others. Tell me, what do you want? Do you want to stay here for a little longer?" I asked, hoping she would say yes.

She nodded shyly, and I couldn't help but give her a big smile. "Great, let's go to the balcony.
You will feel better," I said, helping her out of bed.

We then made our way to the balcony, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for this moment with Ehmel. She was special to me, and I didn't want her to leave just yet.
