Kayleene's P.O.V

It's weeks before I can actually leave the Medical Department, and even then, I'm advised to stay on bed rest for another week or so. Annoying, really. I didn't have that much damage done to me. The fatigue didn't last long. My bullet wound is healed. I have no head damage. Every other wound on me is healed.

Though, I suppose I can't complain. Being able to relax is nice, even if it does mean I'm stuck in my bed for another week.

I sit in my bed in a tank-top with my blanket covering up to my waist, reading a book.

Keith hasn't visited as much as he usually would. About once a week. Even then, when he does, it's only for an hour or so. I don't question it, of course, I'm sure he's busy. Jordan's still on the loose, and so we have to be cautious.

But, even in those small visits, I can't help but feel like he's hiding something from me. I don't pry, because if there's something he needs to tell me, he will.

I close my book as someone knocks on my door. "Come in," I call, setting my book on the bedside table.

Keith walks in, a sort of grim expression on his face. "Hey."

"Hi."

"How're you feeling?" he asks as he pulls up a chair.

"Fine. You?"

"Good," he says, but he's not fooling anyone. I see the look in his eyes. He's come bearing serious, probably bad, news.

"What's up?"

"Nothing. Just thought to drop by."

"Right. Okay. So, your room is right next to mine, we share the same office, and you 'just thought to drop by'?"

Keith doesn't respond.

"I'm not angry, or anything, just confused. You've only visited me for an hour every week since I've been on the 'road to recovery', and each time you have, you've had your guard up. Around me. One has to be curious, Keith."

"I don't want to talk about this right now."

"Alright," I say, dropping it then and there.

We sit in silence, neither of us really sure what to say.

After a minute, Keith opens his mouth to speak, but is interrupted by the door knocking. He sighs and gets up, walking to the door and opening it.

"Yes?" he asks whoever it is.

"Can I speak to you for a moment, Keith?"

Zander? Speaking to Keith? Well, that's a first.

"Uh..." He looks back at me.

I wave my hand dismissively. "Go ahead." I pick up my book, but don't open it.

He looks at me for a moment longer, and I see the apprehension in his eyes. But, then the look is gone, and he nods before walking from my room, closing the door behind him.

I open my book and start reading where I left off.

Keith's P.O.V

I close Kayleene's door with a small sigh. "What's up, Corman?"

"The Head Ghost want's you to meet her in her quarters in ten minutes."

I frown. "Why?"

"Your guess is as good as mine," he says with a shrug. "Just be there in ten minutes."
