Preview: This story can be between you and anyone you want! Sad :(

"You're not coming back, are you?"

"It's for the best that things turn out like this." They had been distant recently and it had gotten on your nerves. When you finally asked them what was happening they told you that the two of you needed to break up,

"Long distance just doesn't work for me, Y/n. I'll be thousands of miles away. I don't wanna keep you from meeting someone wonderful.... Someone who won't leave."

It was bitter moments like this that made you want to freeze time and hold them for as long as you could. Run your hand through their hair and tell them that they can't leave.

It was the day before they left and you sat outside their door. Using a stick to draw in the dirt,

"Is there anything I can do before you go?" They sighed,

"You don't have to do anything Y/n"

"I want to." They were quiet for a long time before motioning you inside. The house was dark.Seeing all the boxes filled with memories made your stomach twist in knots.
It didn't feel real anymore.
Would life even matter if they weren't there to share it with you?

"I really hope your happy in your new place...It's gonna be great!" They walked over to you and wrapped their arms around you slowly. Resting their head on yours, letting your face sink into their chest you began to cry. Not movie cry either, a real genuine ugly crocodile cry,

"I wish you didn't have to go when our lives have just begun."

"I know sweetheart."

The two of you stood like that for a long time. Neither of you talked. You just looked around the empty house and cried. It felt like your life was falling apart all over again.

When you found the strength to help them pack you tried your best to fold everything neatly. When you found the strength to say goodbye they left...

When you found the strength to move on you called two months later to check up on them.

The screen showed it was dialing and you sat on your couch in a t-shirt they bought you. A beep alerted you as they popped onto the screen. A blue tint faded over them. They looked great,

"So..Is it everything you hoped it would be?"

"Absolutely sweetheart. How's life over there? Still crazy?"

"Still crazy."

The both of you talked all night about how the weeks have been filled with job application and struggles with mental health. You seemed to both realize you were better than you had been in a long time,

"I hate to say it, but you moving away might've been the best thing to happen. I miss you like crazy but I got myself back on track. So thank you. Thank you for leaving me behind."
