A few days pass by quickly. It’s Saturday, a day off for both mother and daughter. Ruhana has to leave for London on Sunday afternoon. She wakes up at her usual time and adores her daughter, who’s sleeping while cuddling her with one arm. Ruhana turns a little towards her daughter and the girl snuggles close to her.

“Mumma, so jaao, aaj toh chhutti hai. Aaram se uthenge.” Ruhaani says sleepily.

“Main yahin hoon, betu, tu so jaa.” She replies, smearing her daughter’s head.

Ruhana adores her daughter

Ruhana adores her daughter. Though the girl is not so little anymore, Ruhana loves to adore her. She has been her comfort zone, and her support when she decided to part ways with her husband. Ruhaani has grown up understanding that if there’s no compassion or love in a relationship, it needs to be broken. No, she doesn’t hold any hatred for her dad, but she believes that it’s a good thing done by her mother. She is always standing in her support.

Even in the current scenario, Ruhaani is the one who’s convincing her mom to take a chance and visit London for her business purposes. Ruhana has agreed, but her heart still lingers on her daughter; leaving her alone is something that her heart doesn’t allow.

She’s got a friend in Vineet, and he has promised her to take care of her daughter like his own

She’s got a friend in Vineet, and he has promised her to take care of her daughter like his own. She wants to trust him, but she feels that it’d be a burden on him and his mother. However the lady has already invited her to leave Ruhaani in her care.

Ruhana doesn’t know when she falls asleep with all such thoughts about her daughter and Vineet. She wakes up when the doorbell rings. Ruhaani is still asleep. She frees herself from her grip and moves to fetch milk from the milkman. She brings the milk to boil and makes tea for herself. It’s just 8 in the morning, and she’s feeling a little refreshed. Holding her mug of tea, she walks back into the bedroom to find Ruhaani awake.

Ruhana sits beside her and Ruhaani snuggles close to her. It’s the girls habit to snuggle her face in her mom’s tummy. Ruhana begins to smear her hair.

“Kya hua? Tu bhi udaas ho gayi?” Ruhana asks, assuming that she’s sad to stay alone.

“Nahi, Mumma. Just felt like hugging you. Are you set for your trip?” She asks.

“Main toh manage kar lungi, beta, lekin tune apna samaan pack kiya? I mean ab 2 hafte tuhe Vineet ke ghar pe rehna hai na.” Ruhana asks.

“Haan, mumma, aap meri chinta mat karo

“Haan, mumma, aap meri chinta mat karo. Uncle keh rahe they ki agar kuch dikkat hogi toh vo mujhe ghar bhi le aayenge.” Ruhaani assures her mother.

“Main jaanti hoon

“Main jaanti hoon. Usne mujhse bhi yahi kaha tha, lekin beta, hume bhi usey zyada pareshan nahi karna hai. Agar tere exams nahi hote, toh main tujhe apne saath hi le jaati, lekin exams bhi zaroori hai.” Ruhana says she’s upset that she can’t take her daughter along.

“It’s okay, momma. I’ll be fine. I am sure!” Ruhaani says, assuring her mom, though she’s feeling sad herself.

This is the first time that both mother and daughter will be away from each other for two weeks. And it’s going to be hard for them. Ruhana controls her emotions and kisses Ruhaani on her head.

“It’ll pass. Main bas tujhse ek vaada chahti hoon, beta. Tu vahan akeli nahi hogi, Vineet ki Maa hongi, toh achche se rehna. Main jaanti hoon, tu sab sambhal legi, lekin phir bhi, main nahi chahti ki vahan kisi ko koi aur dikkat ho. Tu samajh rahi hai na?” She explains.

“Relax, Mom

“Relax, Mom. Aisa kuch nahi hoga. You can trust me. Main aisi koi baat nahi karungi jisse koi meri mumma ko point kare.” Ruhaani replies maturely.

Ruhana smiles and the two share a moment. Later, they head to get ready. Ruhana has decided to leave Ruhaani at Vineet’s place and then head back home. She wants to make sure that her daughter will be fine there.

An hour later, after finishing the daily chores, the mother and daughter move out to shop. Ruhana needed something for her travels, while Ruhaani had to buy some stationary items. Also, it’s their weekly deal for lunch outside the home.

Finishing the shopping, Ruhaani paves her mom’s path into their favourite restaurant. They’ve been carrying shopping bags, so they chose a corner seat. Ruhana keeps the bags on the inside and sighs deeply. Ruhaani places an order and the two begin to talk when someone interrupts them. The mother and daughter are amused to see the person while his words leave them touched.

To Be Continued.
