It's weird, isn't it? To be so completely in love with someone that probably will never love you.

I looked around the room. We had just had breakfast. The good news was that the people downstairs were leaving soon. The bad news was that I wasn't.

I was tired and uncomfortable. Mr. Donovan's clothes was big on me and I was at my wits end with it.

I sighed. Kai had fallen back asleep. I stared at the door so that I wouldn't stare at him. I have a problem.

Someone knocked on the door. Mr. Donovan opened it. He looked over at Kai, then at me.

"Hey." He said softly.

"Can I know what happened now?" I asked.

He looked away for a second. He closed the door behind him.

"There was a body. Outside." He said.

"What?" I must've heard wrong.

"Don't freak out. I didn't want you to freak because Kai was already freaking out."

"A human body?" I asked to clarify.

"Yes."

"Do you know who it was?"

"Don't worry about that."

"Does this mean that I can't leave?"

"Only until I can get you a detail."

I groaned. I was going to have a shadow.

Great.

My phone started blasting, Closer by The Chainsmokers blasted , through the speakers.

That was Milan's ringtone. Why Would he be calling?

I picked it up.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hey Auggie." Milan's soft voice said.

"What's up?" I asked worried. Milan never call on a school day. In the middle of school.

"Could you come for me?" He asked.

"Aren't you at school?" I wondered.

"No. I stayed home today. I wasn't feeling well."

"Okay. I'll see if I can get out."

"Please come. Hurry."

"What's wrong?"

"Just come. Please."

"Are you okay?"

He sniffled, and said, "No."

Then he hung up me.

Kaiser's dad gave me a questioning look.

"I need to go." I said.

"Did you not hear anything in the previous conversion?" He looked at me.

"I did. But I have something that I need to do."

"You can't leave. I can't go with you. Kai's sleeping."

"Then wake him up. This is an emergency. This is not me just trying to get out of here. I need to go. I have to go."

It got quiet for a good there minutes before he said, "Wake him up."

He walked out.

Kai rolled over and looked up at me.
