Chapter 14

Chloe bounced into my room at a time that was way too early for any human to be functioning.

I tried throwing my pillow at her to get her to leave but she dodged it, jumping onto the bed to sit next to me.

"What?" I groaned.

"Don't be a baby, it's half past eleven." Chloe laughed. "I've got something you might wanna see."

"What." I sighed, my eyes blurry from sleep as I turned to look at her.

Chloe handed me her phone.

"If you like any photos or do anything else on my phone I will murder you." Chloe said firmly, folding her legs underneath her.

I blinked a few times to clear my vision and assessed the screen that was placed in front of her.

I laid back against my pillow with a sigh, looking at the top of Elizabeth's Instagram.

"How'd you find this?" I asked curiously, glancing at my sister.

"Because she's a normal person and actually has social media." Chloe gave me a look.

"Shush it." I snapped. "Social media sucks your soul."

"Yeah yeah whatever. I know you're head over heels for her so I figured I'd let you stalk her gram." Chloe laughed, leaning back on her hands. "Go through it, she posts some cute photos."

She hadn't posted anything since moving to Texas, though, and the last time she posted was on the fourth of July.

I kept scrolling back, looking at cute photos of her and her friends, her dog, her parents, and her brother and his friends.

"Was she dating one of those guys?" I asked with a frown, stopping on a picture from over a year ago. She was with her brother and his two friends and all of them were wearing football jerseys. I couldn't see the number on hers because she was on her brother's back, but she looked ridiculously happy to be with them.

"I dunno. Ask her." Chloe shrugged.

I gave her a look.

"Oh right... You screwed up and now she's not talking to you." Chloe rolled her eyes. "Just apologize, gosh. I actually like her. Better than that Jessa girl you screw every weekend."

"If you're gonna be an ass, leave my room."

"I'm letting you use my phone, I think this is the nicest I've ever been to you!" Chloe exclaimed, holding out her arms.

She must've been really into football a year ago because all of her posts were either with her brother and his friends or something related to football.

"Ugh whatever." I sighed, handing Chloe the phone back. "I'm not 'head over heels' for this girl, so stop saying so."

"Bullshit." Chloe laughed, getting up from my bed. "If you want to delude yourself, be my guest."

"Chloe." I said seriously. "I'm not."

Chloe just rolled her eyes, backing up towards the door.

"It wouldn't kill you to apologize to her, you know."

"Apologize to her for what?!" I exclaimed. "How the hell do you know-"

"We go to a small school, Charlie, and you're the star quarterback. Everybody knows who you are and everybody talks." Chloe told me. "Goodbye, I have plans."

"Plans? What sort of plans?"

But she was gone.

I laid back against the pillows with a groan, running my hands over my face.
