Chapter 15: Trust

Y/n's pov

"Captain! Captain Levi!" Eren yelled out. "What?" Levi said in a monotone voice. 

""What?" This is a forest, Sir! We have no way of detecting approaching Titans this far in with only the centre rank! Something seems to be on our right, too. How are we supposed to avoid the Titans or protect the wagons now?!" Eren complained, scared for his life. "Quit whining about the obvious. We can't do any of those things any more." Levi said, keeping his focus ahead of him. "B- But why?!" Eren managed to stutter out.

"Take a good look around, Eren. See all these absurdly huge ass trees? This is the perfect environment for using omni-directional mobility gear. And use that middling head of yours to think. Use your brain for once if you don't wanna die." Levi said, making himself clear. 

"Yes, Sir!" Eren said, finally accepting his decision. I heard a smoke signal fire behind us. If I'm correct that must be the Abnormal they were talking about. I didn't look behind me, I knew I was right. "A black smoke signal?!" A soldier panicked. "From right behind us!" 

"Must be whatever's on the right!" Eld said. "Draw your swords." Levi pulled out his blades and glanced behind us. "If it shows itself, we'll only have a moment." He said. 

I heard faint but loud sprinting from the right. "Move!" Levi signaled. I heard Eren scream when the Titan appeared above him. "It's catching up!" Eld shouted. "Captain! Let's switch to ODM! Captain!" Petra called out. Levi glanced once again behind us with what it looks like is a worried expression. 

He can't be worried in a situation like this. I know him. He'll have some sort of plan. "You're not going anywhere!" One soldier from the support squad shouted. "Reinforcements from the rear!" Petra yelled. I heard faint bodies being crushed by the Titan. It's not an Abnormal. It's one of Eren's kind. 

"Captain! Give your orders!" Petra said, PETRAfied. 

(OKAY I'M SORRY I HAD TO LMAO)

"Let's take it out! It's dangerous! We should take care of it!" Auruo frantically said. "I'll cut it to shreds!" Eld said. My eyes found Levi's and he looked at me like he knew what he was going to do. He's attempting to risk our lives and move forward. I gave him an understanding look. I trust him. "Corporal!" Petra's voice cracked. 

"Please give us orders!" 

"It's about to catch up to us!" 

"Let's take it out here! That's why we entered this forest! Isn't it, Corporal?!" Eld shouted. 

"Corporal! At least give us orders please!" Eren shouted from the top of his lungs. Levi looked back at everyone and said, "Everyone, cover your ears." 

"Levi." I said, concerned about what he's about to do. "You too." I listened to him and covered my ears, watching him pull out a signal shooter. 

I could hear that faint ringing of the thing he just fired. "And acoustic shell?!" Eren called out. Levi looked at him. "Tell me, what is your job again? Is it simply to give in to your emotions of the moment? No, it's not. This squad's mission is to do everything possible to keep this brat unharmed. Down to our last breath. We're going to keep pushing ahead on horseback. Got it?" He said, having no bit of fear in him. 

"Understood, Sir!" Petra confirmed. "Push ahead?! But for how long?! Not to mention it's almost on top of us now! More... More reinforcements! They'll get killed too if we don't hurry and help them!" Eren panicked. 

Eren kept on arguing with Eld and Gunther, trying to keep the other comrades alive. There's nothing we can do. If Eren makes any stupid mistake, we're done for. "Who can possibly stop it, if not the Levi Squad?!" Eren whined. He kept looking back at the people dying behind. "Another one's dead! We could've saved him, too!" I gritted my teeth and growled.
