Can I come home

Georgie was in hospital she had been checked over and everything was alright with her and baby. Charlie was sitting with her whilst her mum was getting a coffee. "You did amazingly" Charlie smiled "thank you Charlie, I mean that from the bottom of my heart I don't know where I would be if you hadn't of offered me a place to stay" she said he smiled and hugged her "you've got all of us Georgie, we are your family" smiled Charlie "so a little boy, what are you going to call him George?" He asked "James" she smiled looking up at him "you don't have to do that" he said "it was actually what Elvis wanted, we spoke about kids once, months before all of this and he said wouldn't it be amazing to call our son James, you've helped up so much and we wouldn't have been together without you and more importantly now me and that baby would have been homeless without you, so James Elvis Harte it is" she smiled he smiled and hugged her "that's an incredible name Georgie" he smiled "and that way he knows if his mama can't deal with it he's got the whole of 2 section behind him" she smiled Charlie smiled "he definitely has" he said. "Charlie I'm coming back to the army" Georgie said "that's amazing but how?" He asked "I'm going to apply for private fostering" she said "what's that?" He asked "it means someone will look after James from 6 months onwards for no longer than a month at a time so I can come back on the 4 week tours in 6 months" she said "Georgie why don't you just train soldiers from the UK?" He asked "I know what you're thinking, he needs his mum, and you're right he does but I need my job Charlie" she said he sat on her bed with her and put his arm around her "listen, I'm not worried about you leaving him for a month, but not every tour we go on, the same amount of soldiers come home that left with us, that baby has already lost his dad Georgie and as much as what you do isn't as dangerous you are a risk taker and leaving him without a mum is unfair" he said she nodded "I know, I know" she said leaning on his shoulder "you stay here give that baby a life George, buy a house, read him stories he won't be that small forever, come home in a month you won't recognise him, I know Elvis would want you at home with your baby" he said she nodded "alright" she said "please come on tour with us when he's older, but not while he's a baby" he said she nodded "where are you guys going next?" She asked "we are off to Syria" he said she nodded "humanitarian?" She asked "no not this time" he said "stay safe Charlie, come home, please" she said he nodded "I will" he smiled kissing her head holding her close "I like being with you guys out there, I don't have to worry because I know if anything happens I'm in charge but you're going to have a new medic" she said he nodded "no one will ever replace you Georgie" he said she nodded smiling "I know" she smiled. "Can you do one more thing for me Charlie?" She asked he nodded "of course" he said "could you ring my dad please? If I give you his number" she asked he nodded "of course I can" he said. He dialled it into his phone and rang the number "I haven't spoken to him in months, do you think he could ever forgive me?" She asked "you have done nothing that needs to be forgiven" he said holding her hand she nodded and he answered the phone "here" he smiled "your a grandad" she said tears in her eyes "Georgie?" He asked "dad, please just forgive me" she cried "I want you to meet your grandson" she cried he just shut off the phone "he hates me" she cried Charlie just wrapped his arms around her laying back on the bed with her "I've got you" he said rubbing her back "I've got you" he repeated she just held him tightly "I love you Charlie" she cried "I love you too baby I love you too" he said tears in his eyes "are you tired?" He asked she nodded "you look shattered" he said "thank you" she laughed he smiled and kissed her head "I've wanted to do this for a long time" he said "what?" She asked "this" he said kissing her lips she kissed him back and smiled "I'm coming home to you Georgie, we're going to buy a house, have our own little family and remember Elvis every day" he said she smiled "I'm glad I've got you" she said "I'm glad I've got you" he said kissing her cheek. "Do you think my dad will ever forgive me?" She asked "of course he will, he can't hang on forever to meet his grandson" he smiled she nodded "I hope you are right" she said snuggling down next to him leaning her head on his chest.
20 minutes later Max walked into the hospital Grace saw him and stepped outside before Georgie could notice "Max leave her, she's just given birth" she said "I know, I know" he said walking past Grace in to Georgie "Georgie, Georgie" he said hugging her "dad" she cried into his shoulder sitting up "it's alright Georgie I'm here" he said holding her close "I'm so sorry" she cried "it's alright sweetheart, it's alright, you didn't do anything wrong" he said tears falling down his face "I'm so sorry Georgie" he said she smiled "no I'm sorry, what I did was irresponsible and... look it was stupid but I really did love him dad, I really really miss him" she cried he held her close and rubbed her back "your grandson is waiting to see you" she smiled sitting up he smiled and nodded "I can't wait!" He smiled "come on, I'll take you to see him" she smiled he nodded and followed her out of the room. She showed him to a cot and he smiled looking at the little baby "you just did an incredible thing" he smiled "I can't believe I'm a mum" she said "you never did strike us as the motherly type" he smiled "I want to go back to the army dad, but I can't can i?" She asked "you can work for the army from home" he said "my job means everything to me dad, when I found out I was pregnant it took me ages to decide" she said "decide on what?" He asked "whether I was going to keep it" she said "and I know that makes me sound like a terrible human, I really do but I just wasn't sure if I could be a mum, I wasn't sure if I'd make a good mum and without Elvis I just didn't know what to do I thought it might be better if that baby didn't have me as a mum" she said tears in her eyes looking at James "but here we are and I chose the right choice I know I did I love him so so much and he's a part of Elvis that is still so alive" she said her dad held her close "How did you decide?" He asked "Elvis would have wanted this baby, that's how I decided, if he was still alive what would we have done, and we would of kept it, I know we would have" she said he nodded "what about Charlie?" He asked "what about him?" She asked "he's been a big help" he said Georgie nodded "yeah, yeah he has" she smiled "so do you have a name?" He asked she nodded "James, James Elvis Harte" she said playing with his hand her dad smiled "that's lovely" he said she smiled "if his mama can't help, 2 section and special forces have got his back" she smiled he smiled and kissed her head "I'm glad to have another boy in the house" he smiled Georgie looked up at him "in the house?" She asked "come home Georgie" he said she smiled and hugged him tears in her eyes "I would dad, I'd love to but I've got everything at Charlie's and he's leaving so I'm there on my own for 6 months so he can't wake anyone up, but I will be round everyday" she said he nodded "alright lovely, I've got something for you anyway" he said "what's that?" She smiled "if you want to go on tours again, me and your mum will look after him, as long as you promise you will come home in one piece" he smiled Georgie smiled and hugged her dad "thank you" she smiled tears running down her face on to his shoulder "we know that is your life, we don't want you to have to give it up, or chose between your job and your son. You can pick both Georgie" he said she smiled "but please, please come home from being on tour" he said she nodded "of course I will" she smiled "right I have one more thing for you, I got it made a couple of days ago" he said "really?" She asked he nodded "it's in your room" he said she smiled "come on" he smiled. They walked back to her room and he pulled a box out of a bag "here" he smiled "it's just something so James doesn't ever forgot the infamous story of Georgie and Elvis" he smiled she opened the box and pulled out a big green snow globe that decorated in an army print. Inside there were several pictures of Georgie and Elvis, her on her wedding day when he didn't turn up, when they first met, when they were back together, tours from around the world together. Georgie's eyes filled with tears "thank you" she almost cried "turn the knob on the bottom" he said she twisted it and it started playing music "at my show on Monday, I was hoping someday, you'd be on your way to better things" it started Georgie just held her dad close and cried "thank you" she sobbed he smiled "I love you" he said she smiled "I love you too" she said.
