Theo strolled into his kitchen. He was disoriented. His appearance reflected that. He was wearing a pair of basketball shorts, no shirt, and his hair was all over the place. He looked tired. He was stressed. He was empty.
He couldn't sleep. He couldn't help but worry about Naomi. How she was doing? What was she doing? Was she okay?
Ever since that night he kissed her, he barely got any sleep. He just wanted her in his bed next to him.
As he looked up from his phone he noticed Tiana. Did she come back early? When did she get here?
"Hey" She smiled
Theo returned the smile.
"What are you going back so early?" He asked
"Early?" She furrowed her brows
"Term three starts tomorrow" she confirmed
Theo looked at her confused. There was no way. He hadn't been here for weeks. It wasn't time for Naomi to come back just yet. No way time had gone that quickly. He wasn't ready yet.
"You're waiting for her, aren't you? Tiana asked, as she looked at the shocked expression on Theo's face
"Huh? Who?" Theo questioned, being pulled out of his daze of the knowledge that it truly was the day before the last term started
"Naomi" Tiana smiled knowingly
"Yea- wait how did you know?" He asked, stumbling on his words at how he almost gave himself up. He had to ask himself whether Liv told her or Naomi told her herself. Either way he just needed to know whether everyone knew about what was going on or was this still a secret. He didn't care if Naomi had told people but it was a situation between the two of them, and he didn't need more pressure from other parties about everything he did wrong in the past to her.
"Elijah" she smiled
"For fuck sake I told him not to say anything"
"Remind me to never tell Elijah anything again" Theo grumbled
"Ouch, what was that for?" He yelled as Tiana hit his arm
"For everything with Naomi, you really messed with her. She didn't even tell anyone anything. I had to find out through my boyfriend that one of my best friends was getting her feelings played with"
"Yeah I know, I know I'm a dick but- wait, boyfriend?" He stopped himself
"Yeah we made it offical over Easter, when he came to visit me" Tiana beamed
"Shitden, congrats. But yeah, I'm trying to make it right with Naomi"
"And I wasn't- I mean, I'm not playing with her feelings, it's complicated. I just need to talk to her" he stumbled over his words
"Do you know where she is? Is she back yet?" He questioned
"No, she's not back yet. She's at home" She stated
"When's she coming back?"
"She's not"
"Wait, what. She's dropped out?" His heart sank, as he began to pace the kitchen. He couldn't let her slip through his fingers this easily
"No. She's just taking a break from all of this" she explained as she gestured to the flat. She only knew the story through technically Theo's perspective when Elijah told her. She hadn't spoken to Naomi about it because she wanted her to be okay to tell her in her own time.
"She wants to be at home for a bit longer but she'll come back when she's ready" she continued, remembering their conversation in the girl's group chat about when each of them were going back to the flat.
"But when will that be?" He asked, running his hands through his dishevelled hair
"I don't know Theo. I'm not her"
"But I have to talk to her" he stressed
"I know but you're going to have to wait"
"For the time being, you can practice on me what you're going to say to her. And can I remind you not to fucking kiss her again cause we all know where that led you two..."
"Also, how could I forget..." she smiled
"Ouch, what the hell?" He shouted as she pinched his arm
"That's for sleeping with Charlotte and making her turn crazy enough to take the picture of you and Naomi and send it to Seb" she stated, raising her eyebrows at him, seeing if he would dare to question whether it was reasonable for her to pinch him
"Okay I deserved that, but how was I supposed to know that she knew Seb" he mumbled
"Oh, I don't know, maybe talk to your side chicks about something other than your dick for once. Anyway, let's practice your talk" she instructed
"She wasn't a side chick. I never had a main one. And we didn't exactly talk" Theo laughed, remembering how annoying Charlotte was and all they literally did was sleep together
Tiana arched a brow at him, reaching to pinch him again, annoyed at his fuckboy statements
"Shit, sorry, we can do the practice talk thing now" he rushed out, attempting to dodge Tiana's grip on his arm
Tiana kindly redrew her hand away from his arm, ready to practice being Naomi for Theo so he could be prepared for his talk.
"You and Elijah, wow" he hummed, looking at Tiana, realising that his boy really cuffed her
"Yeah, looks like some boys can actually get their act right and have the balls to get the girl they really want" Tiana sassed, as Theo rolled his eyes at her, knowing she was right.
It was an embarrassment for him. He was embarrassed and he couldn't help it. He had really watched two of his mates get into relationships within such a short time at uni and they're both doing so well, but yet he couldn't even have a proper civil conversation with Naomi without being locked in that space with her.
