I wake up to the sunlight streaming through my window. I rub my eyes and sit up, reciting my morning prayers before standing up to get ready for the day. I take a shower and slip on a purple abaya, which is my favorite color. I love how it complements my skin tone and makes my eyes stand out. I carefully put on my veil and apply kohl around my eyes, a little mascara, and some glossy lip gloss.
As I look at my reflection in the mirror, I can't help but feel a sense of pride in my appearance. I grab a matching bag and shoes from my closet and set them aside, ready to grab and go as I head out the door.
"Hey, sis, why are you all dressed up? You escorting me to school or something?" My sister Meelah asks from behind, nearly causing me to jump.
"Could you knock or say salam before sneaking up on me like that?" I say, glaring at her.
"Just answer my question," she replies, ignoring my complaint.
"Fine. I'm walking you to school and then I have somewhere else to be, so stop asking questions and get ready to leave," I say, still posing in front of the mirror as I admire my stunning appearance.
"Ahh! You're so uncool, you going to see Ameer? Iyyyehh, awwnnn" she say dramatically making all sort of weird sounds that are getting on my nerves.
"Ameer my foot. And stop mentioning his name when near me" I exclaimed
"Opps! When did that happened? How? Despite all the love? Ahhh!" She say dramatically. Okay, this girl should start acting cause, what the heck
"You can be so dramatic" I say rolling my eyes at her.
"I ain't being dramatic... and it's alright if you don't want to talk about about him, since you are no longer together, just no that I and Najma don't have a soft spot for him but you being all head over heels for him made us have no other choice but to accept him. He now fucked up, big time!" She say letting out a sigh.
"I already know, You don't have to tell me and we can now stop talking about it" I say completely dismissing her.
"Okay, come and escort me to the door at least" she say dragging me away.
After some minutes of tear-shedding, mum's advices, her delaying and all, she finally left with the driver to the airport.
And I walked back inside with mum.
"All my girls have left me" mum says dramatically feigning hurt.
"I hope I am not just some furniture" I say sarcastically
"Only if..." she started but I cut her off
"Mum, not now please,Stop thinking about that and there will never be a place like home" I say calmly knowing where she is going with the conversation.
"How can I? You won't know the pain dear, anyways, your father said he'll be back in 5days" she says now smiling sweetly
"Ahhh! Thank goodness, I just pray there will no longer be a some more business trips for him after this. He has reached the age of retirement anyways" i say
"Yes, but he's doing all this for us since there is no one else to do that" she say sadly
"Ok mum, enough with that.. you should go take some rest now and I am going somewhere later, I have something to tell you when I come back" I say smiling
"Alright.Don't stay long, besides you know that I don't like you going out anyhow" she confessed
"Sure mum!" I say and headed to my room.
I should call Noor and tell him that I will be unoccupied for the rest of the day.
I called but he did not answer so I decided to leave him a message.
Hey! Greetings to you! When are we going out or when are you picking me up? How's it going to be?
I then hit the send button.
Minutes pass by but he still hasn't replied yet. So I decided to give Aleeya a call.
"Hey sis!" I yell over the phone
"Hey, Leenah, What's up?" She asks
"Nothing much, just missing you over here and Meelah has left" i say pouting
"yeah, she gave me a call. So now you missing me huh?" She ask teasingly
"Yeah, c'mon! Where's my bros?" I ask
"He's good, he's in the kitchen" she say chuckling
"What?? Is that how you treat your hubby? You're so unbelievably Leeyah!" I say amused
"No, it's not what you think! He claims that he can cook better than I do so...." she let out a chuckle
"Ahhh! I see.. hubby, wifey stuff" i say giggling
"Ohh that reminds me, where's that your new guy? Your savior? What's that his name.... erhhmm... ohh yeah!" She started but I cut her off
"Noor, and I'd be going out with him later in the day" i say smiling like a clown
"Ahhh! It has happened! My sis is getting her shits together huh?" She say teasingly
"Ahhh no! Don't start now please. Look! I have to go bye! Love you! My regards to Asad" i say all at once and hung up the phone before she starts anymore conversations that I am not ready for.
I kept the phone wanting to go eat something when I heard the phone buzzing again.
I looked at the ID and saw that it is an unknown number. Wanted ignoring it but my instincts told me to answer it!
"Hi Leenah! This is me Azra! Remember me? The girl you saved from that weird guy and the same girl that ate tons of chicken when we went to KFC. Ok, I am that beautiful soul" she say catching her breath
"Hahahah, Azra! So you can talk this much? Wow, wow, wow! And yes. I do remember you. What's up?'' I ask curiously
"Actually, I need your help" she says in a low tone.
