"Zeenah that's you,wow it's been so long and you have really changed" I said scanning her.

"Haha! So you wanted me to remain like I was before?" She replied

"No,of course not. But I wouldn't even recognize you if we met at a store or something" I said gesticulating with my hands

"No,you wouldn't! Because you didn't care" she said

"Uh-uh,someone's picking offence already, I'm sorry, you know we got caught up in life and all,but you look great" I smiled

"Thank you. I heard you're working now" she said while typing stuffs on her phone

"Yeah I am,what about you?" I asked

"I just got into the university" she replied still looking at her phone

"I see,that's great,and you're studying.."

"Literature" she interrupted

"Wouldn't you want some of the watermelon? There are some in the freezer" she offered

"Just a slice will do" I replied

She stood and walked to the kitchen and got me a slice on a plate as I said.

"You're really tall" I said as she handed me over the plate.

"I still want to be taller" she replied

"Don't you think if you grow past the height of guys they'll be scared of you?" I winked

"No, I don't think so. I am not a masquerade to be scared of,and guys like tall girls, don't they?" She asked. Actually I didn't see that coming

"Err,they do, they do" I muttered

"They do? What about you?" She asked again

"Uhm I also do,i-mean,yeah I do" I replied

Over the years only God knows how this girl must have grown. She can talk! That I have noticed. I like someone who talks though. And she's doing so with me effortlessly. Cool!

"Is your girlfriend short?" She asked again

"Zeenah! I don't have a girlfriend" I said then smiled and winked both of my brows

"Yaya Hameed! I no gree" she laughed

"If would've been married if I did" I said.

"You're somehow right" she finally accepted, partially though.

"But not too long ago, I heard you were with one Zahrah?" She asked. OK this was becoming an FBI session I guess. But I've got to answer all her questions, at least to clear her doubt.

"Yeah, I was,how did you know?" I asked

"Tsk! Tsk! I'm not telling you that one" she pouted.

"Ohhhh Kay...I'll also stop answering your questions then" I also said as I took one of the chopped melons.

Sweetness overload!

"OK I heard from Aunty Khadijah. You know we've not been in touch with your family for so long. But now that Aunty Khadijah is living in our estate I always visit her. You know how boring our house is" she shook her head

"I don't know how boring it is. But it's fine" I smiled

"So are you sleeping over?" Zeenah asked

"No way! I should get going sef..I've been tired from work" I said checking the clock. I bed the Faruks a farewell and headed towards the door for my exit when Zeenah's voice perched on my ears

"let me see you off"

"Sure,thanks"

We rested on my car as we talked more. I asked her about her relationship status.

"The last guy? We broke up because he talks too much,I don't like that" she said

I laughed hard!

"So I should be quiet when you speak?"I asked

"No na! But you shouldn't talk much" she replied

"OK Ma" I replied

"So see you when you come, I know you are not going to come here until they're back" Zeenah hissed

"I don't  know,I may" I said as I opened my car door

"Alright, bye" she waved.

I drove home and had the best sleep I could ever get. I was too tired to resist sleeping to binge watch the series I've stored on my PC.

In my mind, I've only slept for an hour or so but my alarm starts to prick my ear drums with it's unpleasant sound. Who cares? It's Saturday. But not any Saturday, the Faruks are leaving but I don't seem to have the strength to see them off. I have snoozed the alarm for the 10th time already. I check my phone to see Haneefah's missed calls from yesterday night. I switched off the phone and continued sleeping.

The next time I opened my eyes it  was 10:00am. I prayed, greeted everyone and sat in the parlour with family. They were watching BBB spice. Everyone wants to be a chef all of a sudden. Asma'u sat like she was going right inside the TV.

I gave Haneefah a call.

"Sorry I was so tired yesterday when you called" I started

"Err...its fine how are you doing?"

"I'm good. What about you?"I asked

" I am fine too, at workplace already " she replied

"Oh,you guys work even on Saturdays, wow"I exclaimed!

"Yes,we do. I was thinking I should ask you about something. But it's a really awkward one. I'm still not sure" Haneefah said, this time her voice was so low and filled with fear and anxiety. Fear of what? I couldn't sense anything scary though.

"Uhm..well,you can take your time to think about that, right?" I asked

"There is no time" she replied

"OK, I'll come and pick you when you close by 4 so I can hear you out" I said

"Thank you" she said with a sigh of relief.

Author's note: It's going great for Zeenah while it's about to go bad for Haneefah. Who can guess what Haneefah wants to talk about? Don't even think about it. She's definitely not asking him out.
